What is Load Shedding???

Load shedding is the condition when there is a huge demand for electricity that exceed the generation available.

Point of view of Govt. &People about Load

Shedding

Page 7: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Load Shedding in the view point of government

Load shedding is the proper decision for controlling the energy crisis

Electricity load shedding is one of the best issues in Pakistan like poverty and unemployment

load shedding is being used as weapon in order to abstract

people from their work

Page 8: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Nawaz Sharif’s ResponseNawaz Sharif has asked the caretaker

government to reduce load shedding hours.Shahbaz Sharif said if the caretaker government did not do so, it would be thought as the continuity of former corrupt rulers

He criticized the government for its failure saying that the people are suffering from 16 hours daily power failures and load shedding.

Khawaja Asif’s ResponseLAHORE: Minister for Defense and Water and Power Khawaja Asif has advised people to be ready for gas load shedding alongside power outages. Electricity load shedding will continue till end of February due to non-release of water into canals, he added.

Steps taken by the Government to reduce

load sheddingImproving the Defective planning of WAPDA

Reducing corruption

Government is creating artificial power shortfall to purchase electricity from India

Page 11: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Installation of two old and rented power

stations of about 300MWAll Markets and commercial would close at

8PMRecent government measures of holidays

on Saturday and other saving method have reduce the load shedding but not significally

The Government is attempting to launch a series of actions to reduce power consumptions

View point of people of Pakistan

Load-Shedding of electricity has become a common feature in Pakistan

Lame excuses of government peoplePeople are disappointed due to unscheduled

load sheddingPakistan can not make progress in any field

as load shedding is there

Energy Sources

Page 24: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Hydropower Energy Flowing water creates energy that can be stored in dams and turned

into electricity using turbines and generators. Most important and widely-used renewable source of energy.

Page 25: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Nuclear Power

• Electricity is produced using heat from nuclear reactions.

• Pakistan has around 30 thousand metric tons of uranium (308).

• Pakistan has two nuclear reactors of 425 MW power.

• It is only 2.4 % of the electricity production.

Page 26: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Solar Energy• Solar power is the conversion of

sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaic (PV).

• Highly advanced countries like USA, Germany, France, China, Japan etc. have Solar Power Plants to produce electricity

Page 27: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Windmill* It is a type of engine

*Uses wind to make energy

*The blades of the windmill are turned by the wind which in turn run turbines and generator to generate electricity

Page 28: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Geothermal Energy

*Uses geothermal energy

*Geothermal electricity generation is currently used in 24 countries

*The earth’s heat content is about joules

Effects of Electric & Gas load Shedding

on Daily Life

Page 30: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Effect of Electric Load Shedding

Page 31: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Effect On Students

Future belongs to students

Load Shedding cause lack of attention on studies

Failure in Exams

Page 32: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Impact on Industry

Industries are back bone of the country

Products are not delivered on time

Increase in unemployment

Traders are moving out

Page 33: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Effect on Medical field

Loss of many souls

Difficult to provide emergency treatment

Slow medical researches

Page 34: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries
Page 35: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Issues for home user

More & more use of LPG in Winter

Food is not cooked on time

Geezer & heaters doesn’t work

Page 36: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

PROBLEMS FACED

CNG opens just 2 days a week

Use of petrol cause increase in transport charges

Effect on industry…

CONCLUSIONAND

What are your views?

Page 38: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Role of government Purchase cheap electricity.

Monitor the performance of KESC, LESCO and PEPCO.

Formulate a special committee and taskforce

Motivate workers, get power

Page 39: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Commercial level:

Commence business are hourearly and shut one hour early

Build new Dams:

Kalabagh dam Chashma power plant

Page 40: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

GAS LOADSHEDDING

New reserves should be discovered

Improper use of gas should be discarded in

homes

Page 41: Energy Crisis in pakistan and other developing countries

Bann new CNG workstati ons.

Try to use solar energy In industry

GAS LOAD SHEDDING
