Page 7: Energy conservation

“Energy Conservation is an attempt to save or manage the electricity, fuel(oil gas or any other combustible material) which produce energy.”

OBJECTIVE- To achieve and maintain optimum energy procurement and

utilisation. To minimise energy costs without affecting production,

comfort and quality. To minimise the environmental effects.

Why We Should Save Energy

Saving of energy helps to save the world's energy resources(gas, oil and water)

you're also saving your money. Think about what would happen if there

wasn't enough energy-o There would be no light to turn on when it

got dark . . . o There would not be any hot water for the

shower or heat for your house in the winter . .o No gas or oil to drive the car . . . so there are

lots of reasons we should save energy.

Page 10: Energy conservation

Lighting Turn off the lights when not in use Take advantage of daylight. De-dust lighting appliances to maintain

illumination. Use CFLs which are 4 times more efficient than

bulbs. Use electronic chokes in place of conventional

copper chokes.

Page 11: Energy conservation

Gas stove Use moderate flame during cooking to

conserve LPG. Remember that a blue flame means your gas

stove is operating efficiently. Yellowish flame is an indicator that the burner

needs cleaning. Use pressure cookers as much as possible. Cover the pans while cooking. Items taken out of refrigerators (like

vegetables, milk etc) put to room temperature before placing on the gas stove for heating.

INDUSTRIAL & DOMESTIC FANS

Use light weight/high power fans.

Install exhaust fans at a higher elevation than ceiling fans.

Use electronic regulators.

Avoid rewinding motorsClean fan blades

regularlyOverhauling and

maintenance at time

AC IN INDUSTRIES & HOME Purchase AC with Star

marked. Prefer air conditioners

having automatic temperature cut off.

Keep temp. at 25oC position.

Seal the doors and windows properly.

Regular Cleaning of filters of the AC.

Avoid leakage of inner air to outside

Keep the AC always in 25 deg C.

Page 15: Energy conservation

MOTOR PUMPS IN INDUSTRIES Use high power motor

pumps for efficiency Avoid water leakages in

the pipes Use capacitors in the

water pump motor

Page 16: Energy conservation

COMPUTERS IN OFFICES When not in use switch off

computers. Put on sleep mode when not

used because Sleep mode monitors save 40% power

Use lcd monitor

Page 17: Energy conservation

WATER HEATERS IN INDUSTRIES & HOME

Avoid leakages in the water pipes

Use solar heaters if possible

Proper insulation

Page 18: Energy conservation

REFRIGRATORS Buy “Star” marked fridges for power

save Always keep the Fridge little away from

the wall for ventilation. Avoid frequent opening and closing of

doors Avoid keeping hot/warm products in

the fridge Defrost the ice in the freezer after

some time. Adjust the thermostat instrument of

the fridge according to the room or outside temperature

Page 19: Energy conservation

Iron (Press)Try to press more clothes at a time.

Switch off the Iron when not in use

Page 20: Energy conservation

Conservation doesn’t mean – “ No use of energy” rather it indicates – “ Efficient utilization of Energy”

“Save electricity and fuel for the future.”
