SPANISH I

Spanish I uses the ¡Exprésate! Level I text as a

program base, which mirrors the course at

Lincoln-Way High School.

Spanish I is taken over the course of two years

at the junior high so that pacing is slower than

that of the high school.

In grade 7 students complete Chapters 1-4.

In grade 8 students complete Chapters 5-8. 3

SPANISH I

The focus is on listening, speaking,

reading, and writing in Spanish.

Each chapter consists of three

components: vocabulary, grammar, and

cultural reading.

Materials include a textbook, two writing

activities workbooks, Internet resources,

multimedia, and various supplemental

teacher-created materials.

SPANISH I

Students meeting Lincoln-Way criteria will have

the opportunity to enroll in Spanish II as

freshmen

Enrolling in Spanish I at the junior high does

NOT earn students any high school credits.

Colleges/universities may or may not recognize

junior high school Spanish as a high school foreign

language credit. Many colleges/universities still

require two or more years of high school foreign

language while in high school.

Junior high Spanish I grades will appear on

high school transcripts.

SPANISH I

Students will receive report card grades for

Spanish I every quarter.

Enrolling in the Spanish I program is a two-

year commitment, meaning students will

complete both seventh and eighth grade.

Foreign language study requires a great

deal of hard work, dedication, and

concentration. Students who demonstrate

strong study habits and language skills are

encouraged to take this class. 6

Each course lasts nine weeks

(one quarter)

Exposes students to fine arts,

applied technology, and
