Spain is the country with the most regasification plants in Europe. Thanks to its geographical location, capability and operational flexibility, it is the gateway to Europe for LNG from anywhere in the world. All Enagás’ LNG plants in Spain are equipped to offer logistics services that bring added value to the LNG value chain.
These operations contribute to the creation of a commercial logistics hub, enhancing productivity, supply security and market integration in Europe. This commercial trading point will meet the logistical requirements deriving from the expansion of the international LNG market (large-scale) and will help drive up demand for natural gas for transport (small-scale and LNG bunkering).

Our LNG terminals: an international benchmark
Pushing for...
At the cutting edge of technology and efficiency
Our track-record operating and maintaining LNG terminals under different demand scenarios has enabled us to maximise plant availability and plant management efficiency when offering both traditional services and carrying out the new logistics activities.
100% availability of plants Over 3,000 m3/h average loading rate
at all our plants in Spain Zero boil-off losses during methane tanker loading
in normal operating conditions Far lower shrinkage rates than other transmission
companies/competitors in Europe: exhaustive control of metering process and reduction of associated uncertainty
Tailor-made service and maximum flexibility when assigning loading and offloading slots Terminals prepared to berth the largest vessels
in the world –Q-Max and Q-Flex– with a capacity of up to 266,000 m3 of LNG Zero emissions target for 2016

for the technical modifications it made to its plants to be able to load methane tankers.
the highest safety standards Improvement of the occupational health and safety procedures over and above legal requirements ► Our plants in Spain have been OHSAS 18001 certified for occupational risk prevention since 2008.
Development of end-to-end work permit management tools.
respect for the environment Commitment to tackle climate change and use energy efficiently ► Target of zero greenhouse gas emissions from our plants by 2016.
Since 2010, all our plants in Spain have operated an environmental management system that is UNE-EN ISO 14001 certified by the accreditation agency AENOR.
Voluntary inspection of our terminals in Spain under the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme and EMAS certification.
and know-how Leader in cryogenic equipment ► 100% increase in hours between maintenance jobs for the main equipment.
UNE-EN ISO 9001 asset management certification for all our plants in Spain since 2014.
Development of self-generation of electricity using residual energy ► 60% of nominal capacity self-generated regarding the annual electricity consumption of our plants.
ISO 9001 certification for metering process since 2006. Development of laboratory services and tools to reduce uncertainty in LNG process metering.
The European Commission has selected the CORE LNGas hive project for
the promotion of LNG as fuel.
This project involves 42 partner entities in Spain
and Portugal and it is coordinated by Enagás.
