In realigning their desired product slate, petrochemical producers in the region will look to maximise their use of naphtha as a feedstock. With regional petrochemical production set to rise to 190 million tonnes per annum by 2020, taking advantage of market fluctuations to source the most cost effective feedstock will be of critical importance. Greener alternatives

LPGLPG has long been touted as one of the

cleanest and greenest sources of energy available today. A mixture of propane and butane, LPG produces 19% less CO2 than oil, 30% less than coal, and almost 50% less CO2 than coal generated electricity. Biodiesel Biodiesel is becoming a more and more

important part of the Middle East’s energy mix, providing a dependable source of energy for the future. As increasingly stringent environmental legislation comes into play, the Middle East is turning to biofuels to deliver a cleaner, greener source of energy.

Typically biofuels are blended with traditional diesels, resulting in a fuel which offers dramatically reduced carbon emissions. Biodiesels are available in a range of different grades and concentrations from a 5% biofuel / 95% diesel mix (B5) right the way through to a 20% biofuel / 80% diesel mix (B20).

In addition to its uses in the automotive and aeronautical industries, biofuels can also be used as green alternatives to feedstocks in the refining and petrochemical sectors.
