Excel Magic Trick #81: Advanced Filter AND OR Data Extract

Y(187)1)For Array Formula Basics see this video series:05 Excel Series: Array Formulas 1-142)For videos with similar array formulas see these videos:Various INDEX Lookup w TRUE/FALSE criteria "Reverse Lookup"3)Formula in F13 ==> =IF(ROWS(F$13:F13) .3)The ROW function tells you what row you are in. When we use it with a range of values, it gives us each row: ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13))4)The WEEKDAY function looks at a date and tells you what number day it is (if you use 2 as the second argument 1 = Monday and 7 = Sunday). Then since we have an array it gives us an array of 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s. Then we ask it to do a TRUE/FALSE for when it is not 7: WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)7.5)The IF function puts 1in the array if it is TRUE and 0 for FALSE: IF(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)7,1,0)6)The SUM function adds all the 1s and 0s: =SUM(IF(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)7,1,0))7)The TEXT function takes a serial number and converts it to Text in a format that you specify.8)This formula works similar to the other formula we used but instead it uses the TEXT function to generate the TRUE/FALSE array: =SUM(IF(TEXT(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),"ddd")"Sun",1,0))9)For more about the TEXT function and custom Number Format, see these videos:Excel Magic Trick #40: TEXT formula: Dynamic Label10)Remember, when you enter an array formula, use Ctrl + Shift + Enter instead of just Enetr.Excel Magic Trick #74: Custom Number Formatting11)For similar videos with this ROW and INDIRECT function trick for dates, see these videos:Excel MT142 p2: Array Formula for Counting DatesStart DateEnd DateNumber Of Days Except SundayMon, 12/1/08Mon, 1/5/0931{=SUM(IF(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)7,1,0))} Entered with Ctrl + Shift + Enter (not just enter)31=SUMPRODUCT((WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)7)*1)31{=SUM(IF(TEXT(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),"ddd")"Sun",1,0))} Entered with Ctrl + Shift + Enter (not just enter)All these formula can be see at the www.mrexcel.com Message Boardhttp://www.mrexcel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=362242131{=SUM(IF(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)7,1,0))}231{=SUM(IF(TEXT(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),"ddd")"Sun",1,0))}331=SUMPRODUCT(((WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)7)*1))431{=SUM((WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)7)*1)}531=SUMPRODUCT(--(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)CEILING(B13,7))-(CEILING(C13,7)-CEILING(B13,7))/7831=SUMPRODUCT((WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(B13&":"&C13)),2)
