Meet ShanayShanay is a 16 year old who is just embarking

into the workforce.Shanay wants to start working so she can earn

money to pay for clothes, music, a cellphone, and everything that teenaged girls want!

Shanay discovered the Employment 101 Guide that helped her create a career plan.

Remember Jim JobseekerJim was laid off from his previous job.He wants to change careers to a new high-

demand growing field.When Jim started working with Illinois workNet,

he found the Employment 101 Guide and reviewed the items to help him determine a new career path.

Here is what they both discovered:• They could learn about

career planning, searching for a job, and skills to succeed in the workplace.

• They could prepare a Career Plan and Job Search Plan.

• There were resources in the guide help prepare each of them to complete the post-assessment.

As they progressed through the guide: My Overall Progress:

• They marked sections as they completed them and returned when they had time.

Units/Modules:

• They followed the recommended steps for each section.

• In this example: • Unit = Prepare a Career Plan• Module = Explore Careers

Follow their plan Shanay and Jim each created an individualized plan to help them follow the steps to achieve their goals.

Complete! When Shanay was finished with her plan, she took a Post-Assessment test and scored a 92%. Jim took his and scored 100%. Both were able to print a Certificate of Completion that they could put in their portfolio to share with potential employers.
