New Year’s Resolution? Great! Now what?....... By Katie Kopfle, Central Campus Fitness Center Facilitator

Tips for keeping your resolutions all year: 1. Be Specific- the more specific you are with date and time frame, the more likely you will

succeed. (e.g. I will lose… pounds by… date… through working out… days per week)

2. Accountability- Tell your friends or family about your goal; having people to hold you accountable is a huge motivator and support system.

3. Write it down- Having a visible goal you can see (e.g. on your dashboard in your car or post-it note on computer) makes it more tangible, and you’ll be less likely to break it.

4. Don’t be upset by setbacks- There will be times when you will lose motivation or not stick to your schedule (nobody’s perfect) just remember it’s temporary and you can, and WILL, move

past it!

Recipes by Taylor Taylor Calamese is a Fitness and Wellness instructor, PT instructor in Health and P.E. at CPCC, and will be providing new healthy recipes each month to try at home. For more information about her, visit the BeWell Website. Green Juice Machine Smoothie (125 calories)

2 big handfuls spinach

1/2 seedless cucumber

1/2 cup pineapple or mango

1/2 large navel orange, peeled

1/2 lime, peeled

1/4-1/2 cup water Directions If using a Vitamix or other high-powered blender:

Chop cucumber, pineapple, orange, and lime into 1-inch chunks for easier blending.

Place spinach in the blender jug. Add half the other ingredients and 1/2 cup water.

Secure the blender lid and start off blending at moderate speed. Pulse if necessary to get things moving, then gradually increase speed to high. Once mixture is close to being fully pureed, add remaining ingredients and continue to blend. Only add additional water if necessary.

Pour into a tall glass and enjoy, or store it in an air-tight mason jar in the fridge. Consume within 8 hours for optimal freshness. Enjoy!
