Employee Self Service (ESS) settings for IE/IE11
Steps given below may be followed for opening ERP Portal i.e. ESS (http://sp05rpx1.erp.bsnl.co.in/irj/portal) in Internet Explorer browser on PCs with operating systems Windows 7, Vista or Windows Xp.
STEP 1 First of all Restore Internet Explorer setting which are under Tools –> Internet Options –> Advanced. Press Restore Advanced Settings & Reset tab and then restart the Internet Explorer.
STEP 2 Check the Pop-Up blocker and Compatibility View Settings in Internet Explorer. Add *.bsnl.co.in in both these settings, if not available. In Internet Explorer, these settings are available under Tools tab as shown below.
If the TOOLS tab is not showing, then press ALT key on keyboard.
STEP 3
Now check LAN settings available under Tools –> Internet options –> Connections –> LAN Settings.
In Local Area Network (LAN) Settings, check “Automatically detect settings” if uncheck.
Also see if there are any proxy server settings as they should be deleted for accessing ERP Portal.
STEP 4
I. On Internet Explorer 11, the following error may appear.
I I . Press F12 to resolve the above issue. A new window pop ups such as shown below.
III. Select “User agent String” as Internet Explorer 8 and “Document mode” as 5(Default).
Minimize this window and never close it during the session.
Note: Repeat the above II and III activities for every new session.
STEP 5
Verify the IP address (10.196.223.182) of the ESS Portal “sp05rpx1.erp.bsnl.co.in” in the hosts file. The location of host file is shown below: In My computer–> C: drive –> Windows folder–> System32 folder–> Drivers folder–> etc folder–> hosts file.
Host File
This hosts file can be open by double clicking it & choosing the notepad in list of options available. Check this entry “10.196.223.182 sp05rpx1 sp05rpx1.erp.bsnl.co.in” in this file as shown below:
If the hosts file doesn’t have any such entry, then perform one of the following options available to
copy this file in your PC.
OPTION 1 Open our intranet website “http://intranet.bsnl.co.in”, click on the link “ESS Portal” available at right
hand side as shown below.
A new window appears as shown below. Click on second option “ESS Portal-First time Users click
here”, an ess_config zip file will be downloaded.
Unzip it and execute this .exe file to save ESS portal settings (Hosts file) in your PC.
