    FRESHERS’ WEEK TIMETABLE

  • FOREWORD BY SENIOR TUTOR

Welcome to Emmanuel! You may have thought about coming to Emmanuel for some

time. Many, probably most of you, will have visited the College, many will have been

interviewed here, and there has been a long and anxious wait for offers and for

results. For some of you, however, this might be your first visit in person. Moreover,

not all of you will have applied directly to Emmanuel, and some of you will only have

had a short time to adjust to the idea of being at Emmanuel. We hope that you will

settle in and become used to College reasonably quickly, but please remember that it

will take time, even with the help of the freshers’ reps and college families.

There are also the social distancing conditions that we all have to follow for the time

being. Freshers’ Week will be very different from other years, and we have asked you

to arrive in two groups, ahead of the rest of the undergraduate body. The first couple

of days will seem particularly strange as a result, but you will have a chance to

familiarise yourself with the College before everyone else gets here. ECSU and the

rest of the College will help you as you arrive, as you meet the others in your

immediate household, and in your first few days as an undergraduate.

This Freshers’ Week Timetable is designed to welcome you to Emma and help you

feel at home as quickly as possible. It has to be provisional, given that we are

planning this well in advance of your arrival. But hopefully it will give you a sense of

the events that are planned, even if some of the details may be updated.

Social distancing or not, freshers will need to meet their student representatives,

their Tutors, their Directors of Studies, and many others, including the Master of the

College, Dame Fiona Reynolds. Some information can be provided online, and in

virtual events, but we aim to have as many welcome events in person, and we look

forward to meeting you – again, or for the first time!

    TIMETABLE 2020

BLUE = These activities in this timetable are compulsory.

PINK = These activities will be held online.

Other activities are not compulsory, although it’s a good idea to attend them.
