Last updated: 05 June 2020 Recognition and accreditation of prior learning (RPL) is the name of the process where we consider previously acquired learning and evaluate it against particular learning outcomes of courses within your programme. Where the learning outcomes of the prior learning are sufficiently similar to those of a course, or courses, on the programme, we will award credit for the prior learning (a process known as Accreditation of Prior Learning, and you will not need to take the course/s as part of your degree. It means you are considered to have completed the course/s for the purposes of progression within the programme. Credit is awarded but the mark obtained for a qualification recognised and accredited by us will not be carried forward to your record and will not contribute towards the award. The University reserves the right not to consider an application for recognition of prior learning if the qualification of the respective professional body or institution changes after the publication of this list. Further information on rules regarding recognition of prior learning is covered in Section 2 of the Programme Regulations and Section 3 of the General Regulations. Information on how your degree classification is calculated when you have been awarded RPL is available in Section 5 of Appendix D - Scheme of award in the Programme Regulations.

Recognition and accreditation of prior learning (RPL) is the name of the process where we consider previously acquired learning and evaluate it against particular learning outcomes of courses within your programme. Where the learning outcomes of the prior learning are sufficiently similar to those of a course, or courses, on the programme, we will award credit for the prior learning (a process known as Accreditation of Prior Learning, and you will not need to take the course/s as part of your degree. It means you are considered to have completed the course/s for the purposes of progression within the programme.
