e Filosofia dellUniversit di Catania, dalla University of Malta e dalla Officina di Studi Medievali di Palermo e
finanziato nellambito del programmaInterreg IIIA Italia-Malta, anno 2004-2006, proposto dalla Regione Sicilia-na con contributi della Comunit Europea (European Regional Development Fund). Lobiettivo strategico del pro-
getto la valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale (sia monumentale sia immateriale) che accomuna le province di
Siracusa e Ragusa e larcipelago maltese, per rafforzare le identit delle comunit locali e la reciproca conoscenza,riqualificare in senso culturale i flussi turistici gi esistenti, inserire siti minori finora poco conosciuti allinterno
dei circuiti, incrementare il turismo di qualit proveniente da altre aree italiane ed europee.
K.A.S.A. is the acronym ofKoin archeologica, sapiente antichit (Archaeological community, wise antiquity). It
is a project realized by the Facolt di Lettere e Filosofia of the University of Catania, by the University of Malta
and by the Officina di Studi Medievali of Palermo, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (2004-
2006) within the Interreg IIIA Programme, Italy-Malta, years 2004-2006, a Community initiative which aims to
stimulate co-operation between regions throughout the European Union.
The strategic goal of the project is the valorisation of a shared cultural (both tangible and intangible) heritage be-
tween the provinces of Syracusa and Ragusa and the Maltese archipelago, in order to reinforce local identities and
reciprocal knowledge, to upgrade the already existent touristic flows with a cultural direction; to introduce minor,less known sites in established touristic networks, and to promote cultural tourism coming from other areas of Italy
and Europe.
