The ERG (Emergency Response Guide) Provides four ways to gather initial information.

• Name of Product• UN Number• Placard• Container

The shipping documents often provide this vital information. It is usually a good starting point.

Some of the anticipated changes in the 2012 ERG include:

• Updated material names and identification numbers in the yellow and blue pages from domestic and international regulations

• Green initial isolation and protective action distances pages updated as needed

• Significant revisions to and reorganization of the white pages

• Additional information added to the pipeline transportation section in the white pages
