RelayCoach and Mathlete Roles

Coach• Reads the

instructions and/or questions to partner

• Uses words to help your mathlete

• Don’t over-coach! Help only when needed.

• Be your mathlete’s precision police!

Mathlete• Is the keeper and

user of the equipment (pencil paper)

• Gives feedback to their coach on how they did

Page 13: Emergency Procedures Evacuation Line# 32 Lock down Earthquake September 10 th Drill Practice.

Relay• Working with a partner, determine who is

the Coach and who is the Mathlete for the first card. The Mathlete should have the writing utensil.

• Following your roles, complete the first card. When finished bring up the card to the scorer. • If you are correct (and followed Precision

Police guidelines), you will receive the next relay card. Hand off the card to your partner and switch roles.

• If you are incorrect, the scorer will give you a hint on what you did incorrectly. Return to your coach and continue to work. Bring up the card when ready.
