Emergency Lighting Bypass Controls

Emergency lighting is a critical component when laying out a lighting system. The system requirements are defined by local

codes which determine the amount of emergency lighting required to meet minimum lighting levels during a loss of power.

How these levels are attained is dependent on the design of the lighting system. Hubbell Building Automation’s emergency

lighting bypass lighting controls offer several options for emergency lighting applications. All HBA products are specifically

UL listed and labeled for use in emergency lighting.

Shunt Relays provide an isolated normally closed contact that can be used to

provide bypass shunt to power emergency egress lighting directly from the

emergency generator source. The coil in these relays is powered by a normal

power supply.

When the loss of commercial power occurs, the contact returns to its normally

closed state and bypasses control to the emergency egress lighting. These fixtures

will remain connected directly to generator emergency source until transfer back

to normal power occurs.

PRODUCT FEATURES

• 20 Amp 120/277VAC Relay

• N/C isolated contacts

• UL listed

• No minimum load requirement

• Five-year limited warranty

Hubbell Building Automation’s enclosed 20 Amp electrically held UL 924 Bypass

Relay is specifically designed for projects requiring bypass utilizing an unswitched

emergency circuit that is not controlled by a relay in a panel or power pack. The

control of the lighting on the emergency circuit is switched ON and OFF based on

the normal circuit switching input to the unit. When the loss of commercial power

occurs, the contact returns to its normally closed state and bypasses control to the

emergency egress lighting.

The unit includes an automatic test function that simulates utility power failure

and holds emergency lighting on for 2.5 seconds each time the switched input is

turned OFF.

PRODUCT FEATURES

• 20 Amp 120/277VAC Relay

• Available with Dual Tap 120VAC or 277VAC Coil

• N/C isolated contacts

EMERGENCY LIGHTING BYPASS CONTROLS

UL924 Enclosed 20 AMP Automatic Power Transfer Control Relay

Hubbell Building Automation’s enclosed 20 Amp Emergency Power Transfer

Control Relay is a versatile, cost-effective unit, specifically designed for projects

requiring hot and neutral switching of the load from normal circuit to emergency

circuit or that include the requirement that 0-10V dimming circuits be brought to

full brightness during the emergency transfer event.

The unit senses loss or voltage drop of the normal utility source and within 1.5

seconds transfers the load including the neutral to the emergency source. When

power is restored, the unit transfers the load back to normal utility power within 1.5

seconds. An integral momentary test switch simulates utility power failure and can

be activated at any time. Any interruption of normal utility power will automatically

transfer designated emergency lights to full bright regardless of current dim level

or ON/OFF state of the system.

PRODUCT FEATURES

• 20 Amp 120/277VAC Relay

• N/C isolated contacts

• 0-10V Dimming Control to Full upon Transfer

• UL listed

• No minimum load requirement

• Five-year warranty
