Its been two years since our last event and I think everyone is looking forward to getting back to what will be a new norm, so may I on behalf of the team at EMN extend a warm welcome to all visitors and say a big thank you to our sponsors and good luck to the stand holders who are exhibiting here today.

EMCON is the Flagship event for the Engineering Manufacturing Network (EMN). EMN over the last 18 months has adapted like all other organisa-tions to the changing business environment with the key objective of making sure we continued to help and facilitate the needs of the SME’s in the region.

Late last year in October we launched EMCONF. The conference was held virtually and set up to help the people in our network get �rst hand understanding from industry experts about the challenges and opportunities we all face. The event was well received and very well attended with over 200 participants. In August this year we made a further step by holding our �rst live EMCONF event at the UTC on the Aycli�e Industrial park, that event will shortly be available on our web site so you can all bene�t from what was discussed.

EMCON brings together local engineering and manufacturing companies from around the region with the aim of meeting new clients and suppliers as well as providing a friendly atmosphere in which to entertain your current customers, all in all its a great place to be. The event has been running for over 12 years and its pleasing to see that appetite for the event continues to remain strong. The team at EMN always try to �nd new ways of delivering the show, keeping it relevant to the market and most of all making sure we keep that friendly and welcoming feel to the day.

This year we are pleased to welcome Stadler rail back as our headline sponsor for the 3rd time. The rail sector is growing and Stadler are now developing a presence in the north east. As part of their growth they are looking for new suppliers and we will be hosting meet the buyer sessions throughout the day. The Business Energy E�ciency Project provides small and medium sized businesses in County Durham with an impartial, fully funded energy audit and written report, identifying where energy savings can be made (which, in turn provide for �nancial savings).
