the WiLgOsh & piku shOWDefensemen Brooke Wilgosh ’15 and Phoebe Piku ’16 continue to pro-duce from the blue line for the Soaring Eagles as the duo has logged 16 points apiece this season. With 1.07 points per game, Wilgosh and Piku lead the nation in defensemen scoring.
seven stRaight fOR RyanAshley Ryan ’15 has been a steady contributor all season for the Soaring Eagles and is currently riding-high on a seven-game point streak. During her six-game run, Ryan has accumulated 19 points on six goals and 13 assists.
sOaRing eagLes at the tOpIndividually, Elmira has several players at the top of the national statistical leaderboards. Ashley Ryan ’15 is the national leader in points per game (2.40) and assists per game (1.87); Ashton Hogan ’15 leads the nation in goals per game (1.40) and owns the national lead in shorthanded goals (3); Brooke Wilgosh ’15 and Phoebe Piku ’16 lead the country in defensemen scoring (1.07 ppg); Cassidy Delainey ’15 is tied for the national lead in power-play goals (8); and Kelcey Crawford ’18 is tied for the national lead in winning percentage (1.000).
pOWeR-pLay speciaListsIn Elmira’s win over Williams College, the Soaring Eagles went 2-for-4 on power-play chances, increasing their power-play goal total this season to 23. Elmira’s 23 power-play scores are tied for the most in the country and EC’s 30.3 percent success rate is the second-highest average in the nation.
unbeaten stReak at sevenIn their last seven games, the Elmira women have picked up six wins and a tie. Elmira’s seven game unbeaten streak ties their longest one of the season after the Soaring Eagles opened the year with seven straight wins. Additionally, Elmira’s seven-game unbeaten streak is the sixth longest un-beaten streak in the country.
scOuting chathamChatham University is compiling the best season in program history this year. With seven victories, the Cougars have eclipsed their previous-best win total of five set twice in 2008-09 and 2009-10. Chatham is also on pace to have the best scoring season in program history as the Cougars need just eight goals over the final 10 games to exceed the 44 goals scored by the 2009-10 Chatham team. The Cougars have two players, Erika Martin ’17 and Erika Bronk ’16, with double-digit points on the season. Martin has tallied 11 points on a team-high eight goals and three assists, while Bronk has 10 points on two goals and a team-high eight assists.
