Then, late in the second period, Ashton Hogan ’15 broke a 3-3 tie with her 16th goal of the season, netting the eventual game-winner with 4:50 left in the period. STREAK BREAKER Norwich came into Sunday’s game on an eight-game win streak and a nine-game unbeaten streak, which gave the Cadets the third-best un- beaten streak in the country. Ecac wEst PlayEr oF thE wEEkScoring two goals against the number three team in the nation on Sunday helped earn Cassidy Delainey ’15 ECAC West Player of the Week honors. The weekly award was the first of Delainey’s career and also the fourth time an Elmira skater has earned ECAC West Player of the Week this season.
whEn thE lights shinE BrightEstJohanna Eidensten ’17 has scored just four goals this season, but three have come against two of the top teams in the country in Norwich and Plattsburgh State. Eidensten scored two goals against Plattsburgh on No-vember 30th, and then scored a second-period goal against Norwich on Sunday that gave EC a brief 3-2 lead.
soaring EaglEs at thE toPIndividually, Elmira has several players at the top of the national statistical leaderboards. Ashley Ryan ’15 is the national leader in points per game (2.42) and assists per game (2.00); Ashton Hogan ’15 leads the nation in goals per game (1.33) and is tied for the national lead in shorthanded goals (2); Brooke Wilgosh ’15 and Phoebe Piku ’16 lead the country in defense-men scoring (1.17 ppg); and Kelcey Crawford ’18 is tied for the national lead in winning percentage (1.000).
Ec on thE PowEr PlayEC went 1-for-4 on the power play against Norwich last week and with that performance, moved into the top spot in the national rankings in power-play efficiency. Elmira has scored an NCAA Division III-leading 21 power-play goals in 64 power-play opportunities.
100-Point trackErAshton Hogan ’15 enters Sunday’s game with 94 career points on 58 goals and 36 assists. Hogan is just seven points shy of becoming the 10th Elmira player to reach the 100-point plateau. Teammate Ashley Ryan ’15 scored her 100th career point earlier this season in a 10-2 win over SUNY Cortland.
high PowEr oFFEnsEThe Soaring Eagle offense has been second to none through the first half of the 2014-15 season. In 12 games, Elmira has scored 66 goals, which places the Purple and Gold in a tie at the top of the national leaderboards with Wisconsin-Superior for most goals scored. Wisconsin-Superior, however, has scored their 66 goals in 18 games, an average of 3.67 per contest, while the Soaring Eagles continue to lead the country with 5.50 goals per game.
scouting nEumannNeumann saw their two-game win streak come to an end in their most recent game, falling to Stevenson University, 6-1. Overall, the Knights are 3-10-1 on the season and hold a 1-7-0 mark in ECAC West play. Rookie Bek Lucas is leading the Neumann charge with 14 points on eight goals and six assists while Shanelle Doucette is right behind with 12 points on five goals and seven assists.
