Thank you to all who submitted your data for reporting and your hard work, hours of labor and numerous donations! District Day is going to come up quickly and we have things to discuss and finalize. We need volunteers to help with the following items: Presentation (Women in the Arts) Joan has been working on the presentation and will share it with us at the meeting. She will be highlighting several women from Connecticut who are or have been involved in a variety of forms in Arts. Raffle Basket. The theme for this basket will reflect on our presentation. The Club provides the funds for this…I know we have some creative people out there! Centerpieces for the Tables. Our theme this year is Living the Volunteer Spirit’. We may need to think “outside the box” for this one! Please come to the meeting with your thinking caps on and ready to participate. I look forward to seeing everyone on February 4! Karen Antonetti Pat Tardif We certainly outdid ourselves with food donations in December. I guess we can allow ourselves a respite for January. We can allow ourselves the respite but the people who depend on us cannot …we all eat and take care of ourselves 365 days of the year. Even though we, the women’s club, do not meet all 12 months of the year, we still collect food 12 months. For the month of January we were only able to give donations to the Crystal Lake Pantry. Donations collected was 18 lbs. of food, 4 large packages of napkins, 3 rolls of paper towels, a 4-roll pack of toilet tissue, 1 large and 2 small pack of trash bags, 2 qts. laundry detergent, and 1 ½ pts. of dish detergent. The “yellow box” will be in the Senior Center on Tuesday, February 3 until after our meeting on February 4. You may also drop items off at Darlene Hull’s front door. The people to whom the food is given receive food stamps with which only food can be purchased. The items the Greens purchase for them are what I call “dry goods” and items for cleaning. The pantries would like these items as well as the pasta & sauces, canned pasta meals, canned tuna and chicken and soups. They thank you for your contributions. HOSPITALITY CORNER Ann Williams Hi Ladies - After a month's hiatus, it's time for our February Hostesses to get into the kitchen (or the Big Y or the newly relocated bakery in Rockville) to deliver their special treats for us to enjoy. Denise Archibald, Nadene Lake and Cathy Burgess have this assignment and we look forward to the results. See you in February! Dot Shackway Even though the day was rainy and dreary, Winterfest was the bright event of the day.
