Abbey Coleman Music video analysis I have chosen to analyse ‘Love me like you do’ by Ellie Goulding using Nick Lacey’s repertoire of elements which are: Character, Narrative Type, and Iconography. This video has the narrative of two love stories between a female and male and a relation between two characters in the film fifty shades of grey. The music video establishes their relationship over the course of 4 minutes and 09 seconds. Character: The whole video is based on the fictional story on to characters from the book fifty shades grey, but the video consists of two different stories such as the characters from the fictional story and the artist love life Ellie Goulding. The artist is established as one of the main characters in the music video as we see here walking through a mansion that she possibly lived at as she appears to having flash back with an ex-lover. Narrative: The music video itself is half narrative, half performance as it features clips from the film franchise fifty shades grey of the main characters and there dysfunctional love life. The mean themes of the video is set on the idea of love and how opposites attract as the two females and male live different lives as the men as seen as the wealthy and more power sex were as women are seen as the more working class as the character in film is first introduced in the video in small apartment where as the lead male character is seen is a fancy will designed apartment creating the idea of opposites attract. Iconography: The red is seen in various sections of the music video. The Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger,
