A Quick Visit to Some English-Speaking Countries
Suppose you got a free round-trip ticket to visit any spot in the English-speaking world. Here are a few insights you might want to see:
AUSTRALIA In Australia is Ayers Rock, the biggest exposed rock in the world. Located in a remote desert, it is about 1 !/2 miles long and shines bright red when the sun sets. Australia’s first people, the aborigines, thought it was sacred.
CANADAIn Toronto you can get a view of that fast-growing city by going to the top of the CN Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in the world.
INDIA One of the world’s biggest and richest tombs is the Taj Mahal, which took about 20,000 workers to build. A ruler of India had built it for his wife after her death in 1631.
Search the net or an encyclopaedia and choose two other places or monuments that you would like to visit in English–speaking countries.
Improve your portfolio Search Nasa’s site: http://www.nasa.gov/topics/highlights/index.html, it shows you the most popular topics about space exploration: Looking at Earth Aeronautics Our solar system The space shuttle The international space station Nasa in the Lab Nasa technology Stars and galaxies Do some research about one of the topics and present an essay (+- 150 words) on the topic.

Improve your portfolio Mars, our neighbour planet, is attracting the attention of the scientific community. Its harsh environment is one of the great difficulties that humans must face if they try to create a space station there. An experiment is being tried in the Canadian high arctic, which has a rocky polar desert setting that faintly resembles Mars. 1. Find out more about this project on: http://www.arctic-mars.org/about 2. Fill in the balloons with the correct information: 3. Imagine that you are spending a day in the Mars on Earth station. Write an e-mail to a friend of yours describing your first day there.
