Page 2 Eleventh Sunday In Ordinary Time Dear Friends in Christ,
Special gratitude to this year’s Picnic Team led by Dan & Nancy Buehrer working with the 175th Anniversary Committee to help us celebrate a very joyful parish picnic. Many commented it was one of the, if not the best, in recent years, and I agree. Their sacrifices, preparation and teamwork along with the support from our staff and all our parishioners made all the difference, thank you. So was the Corpus Christi procession. Thanks to Carleen Murphy and all those who work in the liturgy team, Deacons Dennis and Mathieu, the Knights of Columbus for carrying the canopy, the children, the altar servers, choir led by Cecilia Adams and all the parishioners who joined to walk with Jesus.
I pray that we will be able to live out our faith within these summer months. Remember we can never take vacation from God. When planning your vacation the most important thing should be locating where you and your family can at-tend mass (you can use masstimes.org as a resource). We must remember that the Kingdom is “Like a mustard seed, which springs up and becomes the largest of plants” (Mark 4:31-32). To accomplish this let us walk by faith not by sight alone (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Vacation Bible school begins on Monday. It is very exciting and I thank Bonnie, the RE office and all those helping for all their effort and sacrifices in helping our children to “Set Sail with the Holy Trinity” and travel with St. Patrick during this upcoming week.
This is Deacon Mathieu’s last weekend with us before leaving for his ordination in Cameroon. Two people from here along with myself will attend his ordination. Please congratulate and keep him in your prayers as we send him off. He will be back in late August and is looking forward to celebrating Mass with us, as Father Mathieu.
Congratulations to Kenzie Mocogni (recent graduate of Marian Central Catholic High School) who will receive the St. Timothy Award and the Knights of Columbus Graduating High School Senior Scholarship at the 11AM Mass this weekend. The St. Timothy Award is a national recognition award given to a youth by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry in collaboration with the Diocese of Rockford Catholic Education Of-fice. Kenzie has participated in the Liturgical Ministry of our parish from the 4th grade on, serving as an Altar Server, Lector and Eucharistic Minister. Congratulations, we are very proud of you.
In Christ,
Fr. Godwin

Life Notes
Father’s Day is coming! The month of June is traditionally a time to honor our fathers. On Father’s Day weekend, June
20th/21st, we will distribute wooden cross keychains after all the Masses.
As part of our mission to acknowledge the dignity of all people, the Respect Life Ministry would like to reach out to a portion of fathers that are often forgotten…those that are in prison. A portion of our Corporal Works of Mercy collection on that weekend will be used to purchase mate-rials such as bilingual missalettes to distribute to the men at the McHenry County jail. We ask that you be as gener-ous as possible in order to aid us in our effort to bring Christ’s message of hope and healing through the Scrip-ture to our locally incarcerated men.
St. Patrick Legion of Mary “Undoer of Knots”
St. Patrick’s Legion of Mary invites all parishioners to come and pray with us every Saturday morning at 9AM in the parish library. Come be a solder for Mary!

“There is nothing more powerful than prayer and fasting in the battle for true justice in our country. It is the hope of the bishops that these efforts will encourage real solidarity among all people who are standing for the precious gifts of life, marriage and religious liberty.”

Finance News
Hospitalization often means a loss of in-come even as bills continue to come in. A young father of 3 children under 6 years of age fell behind in his rent due to an illness and hospital visit. The township was not able to provide assistance, so this father
turned to St. Vincent de Paul. Vincentians shared prayers, food and financial assistance to this needy family. Proverbs 22:9 “Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for the shares his bread with the poor.”
Vocations Corner: Won Over For Christ
Nothing is more exciting than having a conversation with someone who is struggling to believe in God, or in the teachings of the Church, and to slowly see them come to an understanding of the love that God has for them and of His plan for their lives. In some sense, we could summa-rize this experience up by saying that it is amazing to be able to win someone over for Christ.
But the question that I want to raise is this: Even though we might be outdoing the Lord’s work and striving to bring others to know Him and to follow Him in a deeper way, we have to ask ourselves, “am I won over for Christ?” I say this because while we may seek to follow Christ and to be His disciple, this doesn’t necessarily mean that when push comes to shove, that we will be willing to obey Christ’s request to “deny yourself, take up the cross, and follow Me.” In light of this we need to ask ourselves just how far we’d be willing to go in our own carrying out of the Lord’s will. Are we prepared to do anything for God? Or are we willing to anything … except that one thing. Are we willing to follow Christ only up to a point? If so, then I encourage you to beg God to inspire you to LOVE Him more. Love is the one thing that can motivate us beyond fear or insecuri-ties. So ask God for a deeper love so that your heart will be free to follow wherever He calls.
Really Present: Where is Jesus today? Jesus is where those who believe in Him and express that belief in baptism and Eucharist become one body. As long as we think about the body of believers as a group of people who share a common faith in Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus remains an inspirational historical figure. But when we realize that the body Jesus fashions in the Eucharist is His Body, we can start to see what real presence is. Jesus, who is present in the gifts of his Body and Blood, becomes present in the body of believers that is formed by these gifts. We who receive the Body of Christ become the living Christ. (Fr. Henri Nouwen)
