Page 5: Elements of Art

Color:

The product of light reflecting off of a surface.

Page 6: Elements of Art

Color can affect the “mood” of a photo.

For example: Warm colors (red, yellow, and orange) can add warm and cheer to a photo.

Page 7: Elements of Art

Cool colors (blue, green and purple) can make a photo seem sad, cold, or

lonely.

Page 8: Elements of Art

Texture: The tactile and visual qualities of a surface.

Page 9: Elements of Art

Texture can be implied

(visual), as in photographs.

You can’t actually

touch the texture, but you can see

it.

Page 10: Elements of Art

Or the texture can be tactile. For example,

wood, bark on trees, and furry animals have a

texture that can be felt.

Page 11: Elements of Art

Space: Depth or the

illusion of depth.

Page 12: Elements of Art

Space is creating by converging lines, overlapping objects, and decreasing size as the

object gets further away.

Page 13: Elements of Art

The camera angle or point of view can make the

space more successful.

Page 14: Elements of Art

Shape:

line.

Page 15: Elements of Art

positive shape.

Page 17: Elements of Art

The lights and darks of a composition.

Page 18: Elements of Art

Value is easiest to see in black and

white or monochromatic

(one color) photos.

Page 19: Elements of Art

The higher the contrast between the values, the better the

photo.

Page 20: Elements of Art

Form:

3-dimensional object that have

volume or occupies space.

Page 21: Elements of Art

Anything that isn’t flat has form.
