Review: Recite John 16:33, John 6:47, Colossians 1:2, Luke 2:7, Romans 10:17, John 17:3, Matthew 28:20, and Ephesians 5:1 in Greek and English.
You have spent the last four weeks memorizing two Bible verses. Below, the verses are written out in Greek. On the lines under the verse, supply the English translation.
Review your vocabulary words by filling in the following crossword puzzle. See if you can complete the puzzle without looking up any of the words. (If you need help, remember that there is a vocabulary list in the back of your textbook.)
Instead of reading a paragraph today, you will read the entire text of the Apostles' Creed. You may be familiar with this creed already in English, and I hope you will be pleased by how well you can read it in Greek. Read through the creed twice, being careful to pronounce the words carefully. Pay attention to words you recognize, and also look for stems that look familiar to you. Below the Greek text, I have included an English translation. However, you may enjoy translating as much as possible on your own before you look at the English version.
And in Jesus Christ his only-begotten Son our Lord,who was born of the Holy Ghost and the Virgin Mary,crucified under Pontius Pilate, and buried,and the third day he rose from the dead,he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father,from thence he will come to judge the living and the dead;
And in the Holy Ghost,the holy church,the forgiveness of sins,the resurrection of the body,the life everlasting.
