Schools in which low percentages of 3rd grade students exceed basic reading level are

concentrated in south Atlanta:

In a high number of schools, less than 30 percent of 3rd grade students exceed reading requirements. However, in other schools up to 94 percent of students exceed these requirements.

While many schools serve populations in which fewer than 10 percent of students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, there are also a high number of schools in which more than 80 percent of students are economically disadvantaged.

lower percentages of third graders exceeding basic reading levels:
