At present small ICs contain to 10 8 elements. The problem of miniaturization of electronic circuits (especially – digital circuits) is solved. 3. Integrated circuits do not solve some problems: • Usually only the circuits similar to those used in discrete electronics can be integrated in the ICs. • The ICs contain only transistors, diodes, resistors and sometimes capacitors. Practically inductive elements, necessary for filters, delay lines and other components, cannot be realized in ICs. 4. New methods of processing of electronic signals become possible on the base of the new effects. As a result, the functional electronics (optical, acoustic, magnetic, spin electronics) was developed. 5. As a result of the search of ways to miniaturize filters, delay lines and other components, acoustic waves have been used for processing of signals.
