Electronic payment of highway tolls without human

intervention. ETC systems use vehicle-to-roadside

communication technologies to perform an electronic

monetary transaction between a vehicle and the toll

collection agency.

toll plazas

Current Challenges : Hampering growth

• Cumbersome method of Purchase of FASTag from Banks

• Individual vehicle users are not inclined to visit branches with multiple KYC documents for tag issue.

• Complicated recharge mechanism

• Grievance redressal mechanism needs to be scaled.

Revolutionary steps taken by NHAI

• NHAI in consultation with RBI and NPCI has launched theonline purchase facility of FASTag for Highway users.

• FASTag can be easily purchased online from NHAI, IHMCLand IssuerBank’s websites and it will be deliveredthrough courier at doorstep within 2 days.

• To facilitate further two Mobile Apps are beinglaunched today for easy purchase, recharge andgrievances redressal.
