SB405 testimony regarding chickenproduction particle emissions was basedon flawed research from a poultry industryjournal. In Part 2, we look at misleadingtestimony ignoring the likely nuisanceimpacts (flies, odor and truck traffic) ofplacing up to 1/3 million broiler chickensonly 1/4 mile from homes and 100 feetfrom neighboring property lines. Thelegislature ignored our recommendationthat the bill be referred to outside expertslike the Kansas Health Institute for furtherstudy.
