    GEOGRAPHICALLOCATION

    e 4

    1) The lottery ritual took place in a square located in a village. This shows afocus of the typicality of this small town, a normal rural community.

    2) The location of the square is between the post office and the bank, proves

the smallness of this town, since everything centralizes at or near the townsquare and it acts as the primary location for the remaining part of the story, playing a significant role at the end setting of the story.

The people of the village began to gather in the square, between the post office andthe bank, around ten oclock; in some towns there were so many people that the

lottery took two days and had to be started on June 27th.Paragraph 1, Line 2

But in this village, where there were only about three hundred people, the whole lotterytook less than two hours, so it could begin at ten oclock in the morning and still be

through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon dinner.Paragraph 1, Line 4
