INTRODUCTION

• Binaca Geetmala was India’s most famous program on Indian Radio

• Broadcasted by Radio Ceylon from 1952 to 1994

• Host was Ameen Sayani • Weekly Shows ranked the popular Bollywood

Film Songs according to its demand that was Analyzed in selected shops of major cities.

Reason For Not To Continue• Late 1980’s, Revolution of TV change the taste and

preferences of the masses from Radio to TV• Sayani had begun his own sweet game of promoting

composers and songs of his choice and side-lining the lesser known talents

• The programme lost its value among listeners because of Sayani’s own prejudices & preferences by which he began manipulating the countdown.
