“El Vermut,” the new Vya Vermouth On Tap Exclusive pre-release tasting at Tales of the Cocktail® On ice & in vermouth cocktails accompanied by tapas a la Barcelona Tales of the Cocktail® 2014, Saturday July 19th, 3-5pm Bienville and Iberville Rooms, Hotel Monteleone Join us for an exclusive pre-release tasting of “El Vermut” – the new Vya Vermouth on tap! Why vermouth on tap? Picture a warm evening in Barcelona and an intimate gathering of friends sipping artisanal vermouth on the rocks, fresh from the tap at one of the city’s new vermouth bars, often called vermuterias. The excitement about vermouth in Barcelona is at a high – whereas typically in the past the older generation enjoyed it on Sundays after church, in today’s trendy apéritif culture bars and restaurants are serving quality vermouth all week long to young, enthusiastic Barcelonans. When Andrew Quady, originator of California’s Vya Vermouth, visited Barcelona last year with his wife, they were inspired by delicious vermouth served in the welcoming vermuteria atmosphere and they went to work creating a new vermouth specifically formulated to be served as a long drink, on tap— vermut al grifo as they say in Spain. El Vermut is the continuation of Andrew Quady’s vermouth expertise, which began a decade ago when Vya Vermouth revived the small-batch, artisanal vermouth category. It’s created to be an everyday drink the way vermouth is experienced in Spain: in a cold glass, with an orange twist, perhaps an olive or some soda if desired. It works beautifully in vermouth-centric cocktails. With over twenty different spices, and a mixture of four neutral base wines, including Quady’s Starboard port, this special blend expresses the sweetness levels of Spanish vermouth while distinguishing itself as a uniquely refreshing American experience. Fans of Vya will recognize the signature holiday spiciness and refreshing zest found only in vermouth made by Andrew Quady and winemaker Michael Blaylock at Quady Winery. Celebrate the pre-release of the El Vermut prototype with Andrew Quady and the Quady family at Tales of the Cocktail 2014. Enjoy it on the rocks and in original vermouth- centric cocktails mixed by exciting bartenders joining us from around the country: Chantal Tsang, Mockingbird Hill, Washington D.C. David Burnett, South on Main, Little Rock, Arkansas David Cedeno, Lucille’s, Houston, Texas
