Copy the conjugations of IR

“a”= to / at◦ Él va a la playa. =He goes to the beach.◦ Nosotros vamos a las ocho. = We go at 8:00.

Don’t forget that A + EL = AL◦ Yo voy AL banco. = I am going to the bank.

Don’t combine A with la, los or las! Other common prepositions: con / en

◦ Con = with ¿Tú vas con tus amigos? = Do you go with your

friends?◦ En = on/by

Ellos van en bicicleta. = They go by (on) bike.

IR is usually followed by a preposition –most commonly “a”

I. Fill in the blanks with the correct form of IR in your notebookII. Translate the sentences to English.

Use ¿Adónde? to ask where someone is going◦ ¿Adónde vas? = Where are you going?

To answer, use correct form of IR + A + place◦ Voy a la plaza. = I’m going to the plaza.

More examples:◦ ¿Adónde van Ustedes? = Where are you all going?◦ Vamos al museo. = We’re going to the museum.

Notice that you don’t always have to include the subject pronouns since we know that

VOY = I go and VAMOS = we go

IR + A + Infinitive = going to ….

Conjugate IR, do NOT conjugate the 2nd verb!◦ Voy a dormir. = I’m going to sleep.

◦ Vamos a hacer ejercicio = We’re going to exercise.

¿Qué vas a hacer*? = What are you going to do? ¿Qué va a hacer* ella? =What is she going to do?

*hacer = to do / to make
