Brother Knights: As we start the month of Sep- tember, let’s look back at all the activities of July. The Council started with the annual Boat Trip on the De- troit River with a beautiful night, great weather and unforgettable friendship. Co-chairmen Joe Kronk and Joe Reardon PGK have chaired this event for about ten years. We had attendance of a hundred plus people which is up from last year’s count, great job guys, thank you. Next we had the Annual Council Picnic with ap- proximately 200 people (also up from last year). We started with a beautiful day and Mass with Fr. Den- nis Kauffman from Catholic Central. The food, games and lots of fun came next. This was chaired by Kevin Vissotski, Todd Waldo, Greg Knoph and John Widmer as our target in the dunk tank. Also let us not forget our cooking crew Jerry Miller, Dennis Kelly, Steve Gierak and his son Steve supported by Mark Kronk. Thanks again everyone. We honored Pat and Kay Casey as the Family of the Year for 2009-10 at the picnic. At the monthly general meeting, we honored Joe Reardon PGK for his leadership over the past two years as Grand Knight, Sam Aldridge for the Knight of the Year for 2009-10, Larry Kenney PGK for Knight of the Month, and Mark and Carol Kronk for the Family of the Month for July, 2010. Congratulate and thank them when you see them for all their help. Remember members, to send me any person’s or family’s name for Knight or Family of the Month and a short reason why they should be honored. They will be selected by a vote by the officers of your council at the Offi- cer’s Meeting on the second Monday of the month. The Council participated in the annual State K of C, Detroit Tiger Day. We started with a Mass with Fr. Kauffman, followed by coffee, donuts and fruit, then a bus ride to the game. All of this was chaired by Ken Shureb and his wife Janet, another big thank you. Quick reminder for this month is the D of I lunch- eon and card party on Sunday, the 26th at noon. Closing on a cheerful note, John Widmer’s sons joined our council; they took their 1st. Degree on Au- gust 4th.
