Eighth International Conference on SPECTROSCOPIC ELLIPSOMETRY May 26 - 31, 2019 World Trade Center Barcelona Spain First Announcement About the conference The International Conference on Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (ICSE) is the largest and best-known international conference on spectroscopic ellipsometry and its related techniques. Since the first ICSE held in 1993, the conference has been the place where new advances and developments in ellipsometry-related researches are discussed with a variety of international participants from many different countries. The 8th International Conference on Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (ICSE-8) continues the well-established series to provide an excellent forum for scientists and engineers working in instrumentation, science and applications of spectroscopic ellipsometry and related techniques. ICSE-8 will bring together international participants and offer them the opportunity to present their latest results. Both young and experienced researchers are kindly invited to participate and interact for dissemination, discussion, and advancement of science and technology topics represented in ICSE-8. Following the high standards set by previous conferences, ICSE-8 will aim at presenting a useful balance of fundamental and applied research and industrial applications. In addition, a day of Tutorials will be organized on Sunday, 26th of May, to provide an introductory session. ICSE Conferences were initially held at variable intervals. Their increasing success made clear that spectroscopic ellipsometry attracted a great interest. Consequently, since 2007, the series has been convened as a triennial meeting. Previous ICSE Conferences were held in: ICSE-1, Paris, France (1993) ICSE-2, Charleston, USA (1997) ICSE-3, Vienna, Austria (2003) ICSE-4, Stockholm, Sweden (2007) ICSE-V, Albany, USA (2010) ICSE-VI, Kyoto, Japan (2013) ICSE-7, Berlin, Germany (2016) ICSE-8, Barcelona, Spain (2019) Scope Submission of original work is solicited on the topics suggested below and in related subject matters. 1. Anisotropic Materials 2. Electronic Materials 3. Ellipsometry in Bio-Related Systems 4. Energy Applications 5. Hybrid and Ferroelectric Materials 6. Imaging and Process Monitoring 7. Mueller-Matrix Ellipsometry 8. Nanostructured and Metamaterials 9. New Instrumental Developments 10. Optical and Electronic Applications 11. Optical Modeling 12. Organic and Polymer Materials 13. Polarimetry and Scatterometry 14. Solid–Liquid Interfaces 15. THz Applications 16. Two-Dimensional Systems Proceedings To establish a permanent conference record, contributors will be asked to submit peer-reviewed articles to a special issue dedicated to spectroscopic ellipsometry, to be published in a high-quality research journal. View of the Sagrada Familia from the heights of Parc Güell Paul Drude Award An award in honor of the german physicist Paul Drude will be given for an outstanding presentation by a young researcher. Schedule The first day will be devoted to Tutorials intended as an introduction and also as a tribute to Prof. Manuel Cardona, a key figure in the history of ICSE Conferences. Besides the introductory Tutorials, there will be invited talks devoted to topical review and to include recent developments/findings in hot subjects. Further, talks of shorter duration and poster sessions will provide ample opportunities for the exchange of ideas and discussions. It follows a tentative schedule of the conference: May 26 (Su.)
