Regional Developments

Since 2008 EHA is hosting the European Regions and Municipalities Partnership of Hydrogen and Fuel Cells HyRAMP that on October 27 ,2011 changed its name to HyER: Hydrogen fuel cells and electro-mobility in European Regions

Today more than 30 Regions members active in FC , H2 and electric transport; only one Polish membe is city of Wroclaw

SHEL: Sustainable Hydrogen Evaluation in Logistics

HyLIFT-DEMO: European demonstration of hydrogen powered fuel cell forklifts

Importance:

− FCH FLTs have reached commercialisation in US

HyLIFT-DEMO Project

− Large scale demonstration of Fuel Cell Hydrogen (FCH) powered FLTs

− Two year demonstration:

• 30 units of 2.5-3.5 tons

• Fully integrated 3rd generation fuel cell systems

National support mechanisms for fuel cells - some incentives for clean vehicles

Austria: €500 *, possible grant up to 600.000 over 10 yrs

Belgium: €8990 *, maximum grants for renewable -25,5% of investment

Cyprus: €700*

Denmark:

France: € 5000*, or not more than 20%

Germany: Up to 40% investment costs

Greece: no taxation

Hungary: preferential interest rate, capital grants for renewable and energy efficiency

Ireland: grant support €5000

Luxembourg: 3% interest on 50-60% loans

Netherlands: reduction from taxable profit max €107 million per year of investment ,

cheaper loans 1-2% lower than prevailing rate (max 10 year duration)

Spain: (regional) grant 22-40% eligible costs, renewable 30-50%

Sweden: tax reduction of 0.5 Euro/Mwh

• Building regulations, local regulations, public safety and permission of technical installations or earlier in project development

− Need to inform decision making institutions

− Need for more effective approval procedures
