Goal:

• Making a design using the traditional egyptian standard of drawing people and daily life while incorporating the cartouche symbol and hieroglyphics

• Creating a design using a Cartouche, people (one or more) and hieroglyphics.

Materials:

• Paper• A number 2 pencil• Eraser• Color pencils• Ultra fine tip sharpie

• Optional: ruler, compass, protractor

Directions:• Create and Relief of traditional Egyptian drawing of daily life• The people should be in proportion (50% in height from hips to feet) and

(50% in height from the hips to the top of the head. • The people should be drawn with the feet and legs in profile, the waist and

shoulders forward, and the face and head in profile• Design should be in incorporated into a Cartouche symbol• Some hieroglyphics should be used somewhere in the design• The picture should represent the Egyptians performing routines or jobs

– They could use farming, hunting, artisans, bakers, builders, etc…

• Design should be colored • Lines should be neat, even, clean• Coloring should be in the neat, clean, bright, and compliment your design

Step 1 Draw a Cartouche using a ruler. It should take up most of

the paper

Step 2:Draw an Egyptian man, woman, or both. Make sure the feet are in profile, the torso is facing forward, and the head is in profile.

Step 3:Add symbols that represent themes in daily life or symbols the represent the types of work the people performed.
