At KPS, Sahibabad we have always believed that parents, the third stakeholder in a school learning community, play as important a role in contributing to a child’s growth as do the teachers. The parent community was kept informed by means of orientation, PTM’s and workshops. However this was not helping us achieve our outcomes as closely as we wanted to. The major outcomes that we wanted to achieve were-better school and family bonding as well as better student achievement. The first step to starting this process was to develop a deeper connect with the parents community. We were also in the process of revisiting our school mission statement and invited a few parents to share their thoughts too. This culminated in not only developing the mission statement but also designing the KPS Learner’s profile which is the culmination of what we aspire and strive to develop in our students. The next step was to create awareness in parents regarding the various programs that we run. Parents are invited for regular walk tours during school working hours and they are free to sit and observe certain areas like the Reggio inspired room, library lesson, music classes and sports activities. We got to know that many of the parents were not even aware that such programs existed in spite of regular updates, most of them would only visit school on PTM’s meet the teacher and go back. This exercise helped them realize what all happens in their child’s life at school, since they came in during school working hours. A need analysis survey was done and parents were asked about what do they really want their child to accomplish during school years and what do they want the school to focus on. The majority wanted character building to be the main focus during school years, this led to designing of the I LEAD program which has its base in the 7 Habits of Effective People by Stephen Covey. Regular drop in hour every Friday gave the parent and teacher to work to- gether in bridging the academic or socio emotional gaps that a child might have. Thus second outcome of stu- dent achievement was also being ad- dressed simultaneously. Parents are sent regular handouts and links to help them teach their child better. The tempo had set in and now the teachers are all geared at inviting parents to their classrooms and activities that focus on collaborative learning are organised since we feel collaboration is a big college skill we need to develop right from early years. These activities also aim to help parents understand the importance of Visual Arts and Play in a child’s life. It is heartening to see parents work with other children whose parents have not been able to come for the activity. The invites that go out to parents always have a hand-out stating the importance of the Visual Art or performing art activity that they will be participating in. Sports activities are also enjoyed by parents with as much enthusiasm. The trust and respect between the parent and school community is growing each day with interactions becoming more positive and fruitful. At KPS, Sahibabad we have always
believed that parents, the third stakeholder in a school learning
community, play as important a role in contributing to a child’s growth as do the teachers. The parent community
was kept informed by means of orientation, PTM’s and workshops.
However this was not helping us achieve our outcomes as closely as we wanted to. The major outcomes that
we wanted to achieve were-better school and family bonding
as well as better student achievement.
The first step to starting this process was to develop a deeper connect with
the parents community. We were also in the process of revisiting our school
mission statement and invited a few parents to share their thoughts too. This culminated in not only developing
the mission statement but also designing the KPS Learner’s profile

The majority wanted character building to be the main focus during school years, this led to designing of the
I LEAD program which has its base in the 7 Habits of Effective People by

Regular drop in hour every Friday gave the parent and teacher to work to-gether in bridging the academic or

Khaitan Public School recently organized a 3-day Parent Child Bonding Workshop on Clay Modeling in the school campus, in collaboration with Claying Thoughts, Noida. It was led by Ms Pooja Ver-
ma of Claying Thoughts, Noida. The workshop was a small initiative lead by Ms Namrita Rathee, Head of New Initiatives and Global Connections at Khaitan Public School, and the I LEAD team.
The purpose of the workshop was to strengthen the parent-child-school relationship by involv-ing parents in the clay modeling process alongside their little ones. The purpose was to help par-
ents spend some quality time with their children, and together create a souvenir made of clay, sharing moments of happiness at the school. The workshop also aimed to foster creativity and fine motor
skills in the students. Split over three days the products ranged from animal masks, eco art, and tribal masks using basic
techniques. Pen holders and pots were also made using clay coiling technique.
On all three days, parents supported their kids with full enthusiasm in their clay modelling ef-forts. Feedback from parents ranged from “ I want to the school to organise more such events”, “I
went back to my childhood days” to “Good activity for kids. Important for Overall growth and development.”
The workshop hours throughout the three days were full of activity, participation, enjoyment, and l earning.
was playing neighbourhood freeze tag, build-ing a fort in the nearby vacant lot, splashing
around in a creek or riding a bike to the park, most of us had a lot of fun playing outside.
But the days when children can't wait to get outside and play unsupervised for hours may be a thing of the past.
Today we lead busy, highly scheduled lives. We get off of work and shuttle our children to sports
practice and music lessons. Then we rush home in time to feed them, help them finish homework and get them into bed. This leaves them with no unscheduled time.
When we do have some down time, most of us don't feel comfortable letting our kids roam free through the neighbourhood without supervision. In fact, experts estimate that a child's range for
roaming and wandering today is one ninth of what ours was. So In our effort to inculcate physical fit-ness among our students, we have conducted programs in association
with SV Edusports Pvt Ltd. It is our belief that parent must also be part of this initiative. We have, therefore, organised a Health &
Healthy Me Day on physical fitness for parents as well as students.
Students and parents of grade nursery had their health and healthy me event organised by Grade nursery teachers in association with
edusports team in which school edu sports team planned some wonderful activities on physical fitness for parents as well as students.

“There is no velvet as soft as
Mother’s lap, no rose is as
lovely as her smile, no path
so flowery as that imprinted
with her footsteps.”
Mother’s Day celebrates the glorious
ideal of love and sacrifice called moth-
erhood and is celebrated with lot of
enthusiasm in our 46 countries across
the globe. It is a celebration
honoring mothers and motherhood,
the unconditional love of mothers
and their influence in our society.
Mother’s Day is a day to show
appreciation towards mothers and
mother figures world wide. This day is
celebrated on the second Sunday of
May. Mother’s Day is both an
opportunity to celebrate and salute
our moms for the love, comfort and
care they provide us in so many
ways and between so many various
struggles of personal, professional
and emotional life.
To generate this special feeling in our
little Khaitanians and to help them
strengthen the bond with their
mother, our school organized
Mother’s Day celebration for a week
from 3rd May , 2016 to 6th May,
2016. The celebration started with a
simple discussion in which the
teachers educated the children as
to how their mothers take care of
them, nurture them and provide
them the loving environment where
they can have an opportunity to grow in
a positive manner.
Children were also shown a digital
presentation on Mother’s Day
where the teachers shared with the
students the importance of a
mother in their life followed by a
card making activity, wherein the
kids made beautiful cards which
were taken by the students as a to-
ken of love for their mother.

Happy Independence Day!
The children of Khaitan Public school LKG – C & D
Grade made their parents feel very special by their
Independence’ Day celebration on 11 August , 2016
in the Respective classes. As is known, the theme for
the celebration was “Independence”, most of the
parents came in tri colour. The effort of matching
their get-ups with the theme and their pleasure of
participation was affectionately abundant.
The children welcomed their parents with the tri col-
our flower batches which they have made by their
own and wishing them Happy Independence Day!
