ABSTRACT
Three isonitrogenous (34 % protein) and isocaloric (4,000 kcal/kg) diets were formulated by
using soybean meal as sole protein source. These diets (1. control diet 2. control diet with dicalcium phosphate 3. control diet with phytase) were fed to three replicates of fish with individual weight of 0.78 g. Fish were kept in 12, 45 x 90 x 45 cm glass aquaria at a stocking rate of 10 fish per aquarium. The diets were fed to satiation twice daily for 12 weeks to the fish. The results showed that the fish fed diet 2 had better (p<0.05) final weight and specific growth rate than those fed diet 1 and 3. There were no significant differences (p>0.05) on these parameters between the fish fed diet 1 and 3. However, the ratio of phosphorus in faeces : phosphorus intake of the fish fed diet 3 was lower than diet 1.
