Effects of Electrical Accidents

Although safety precautions have been taken sometimes accidents still happen.

The effects of electrical accidents are electric shock, burns, fire and explosion.

Effects of Electrical Accidents

Electrical shock occurs because of inadequate insulation, poor earthing or the the usage of a damaged circuit breaker.

There are there categories of electric shock based on the amount of current that flows into the victim’s body.

Fire caused by electrical failures are caused by:

Effects of Electrical Accidents

a. Non-functional insulated cables causing short circuits.

b. Faulty earthing systemc. Failure of the protection mechanism to

function such as the fuse value being too high, overloading etc.

d. Electrical sparkse. Faulty lightning arrestor

D. Explosion

Effects of Electrical Accidents

Explosion occurs because of electrical failures mostly by short circuits between life and neutral

cables

A big and uncontrolled fire may result in loss of life and the destruction of

property.
