their own child/ren to also go off-line, to put their
devices down, to take a break from any type of
screen-time, and to get out and about, fill their
lungs with some fresh air, or simply check in with
a Specialist Learning Grid that engages them in
a fun activity that does not require screen time.
The initiative to create some time in the week to
tend to well-being is out of concern that
teachers, children and parents will burn out if we
continue at the pace we have been moving. This
is particularly so, if Remote Learning continues
well past September 13.
In the newsletter this week, there are many
examples of students tending to their own
personal talents or simply getting out and
exploring nature. Wellbeing Wednesday
provides a little additional and focused time to
do these things.
Charlotte (1KZ) is missing going to church so she decided to make her own out of icy pole sticks.
Eucharist
This term the Grade 4 students have been
learning about the Eucharist. The Eucharist
is the sacrifice and sacred meal that recalls
Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Today in the Eucharist we celebrate Jesus’
great love for us. We are preparing to
celebrate our First Eucharist later this year.
Here are some of the amazing artworks that
the Grade 4 students created when
reflecting on the significance and
importance of the Eucharist.

Prep Enrolments
We have begun the process of sending out 2021
Prep Acceptance Letters. It is very important that
if you are hoping to enroll your child into Prep
next year that you contact the office as soon as
possible as places are becoming limited. If you
know of family friends who are also seeking a
placement for their child, could you please let
them know to contact the school on 8312 6312.
We understand that learning takes many forms
and that learning skills such as persistence,
resilience, mindfulness and adaptability are
essential. Therefore, we have partnered up with
local organisations in Melbourne to provide our
students with some exciting, interesting (and
challenging) learning experiences we are calling
Fun Friday. We are very excited to offer our
students these experiences on Friday the 4th and
Friday the 11th of September. The Fun Friday activities will be conducted via
the schools Google Meet platform. Your child's
classroom teacher will send out the link via
Google Classroom/Seesaw as well as the given
time for your child's class. Please feel free to join
your child in their Fun Friday activity, you may find
you enjoy learning these new skills as well! Where possible, we have provided the materials
needed for these Fun Friday sessions in the

house on either Thursday 27th or Friday 28th of

Planning for learning
at Resurrection When planning for learning at Resurrection, we
have a plan to collect data through a range of
tests over the course of the year. This year has
seen our data plan impacted significantly due to
COVID19 and remote learning.
In order to ensure that we are still collecting data
that is relevant and able to be used, we are
dedicating Week 9 of this term to be a data
collection week. From Grades 1-6 all children
will be engaged in PAT testing from 7th
September – 11th September.
The purpose of the testing is for the
school/teacher(s) to:
Know what your child’s strengths are
Identify areas to focus their teaching on
Inform future planning to meet the needs
of students
The purpose of the testing in NOT:
To get everything right
To pass the test or fail the test (these are
not tests set like this)
To get to the next level
We urge all parents to allow the children to work
independently on the tests. If parents help, then
the results will not be accurate and we won’t be
able to target learning activities to your child’s
needs. Also, when children produce errors, it
helps support our knowledge of them as learners.
Depending on the Grade level, students will
engage in a variety of tests. The range of tests
are PATR (Reading), PATM (Mathematics), PATS
(Spelling), PATG&P (Grammar & Punctuation)
and eWrite (an online writing platform).
Retesting in all levels will occur at other times
throughout the week. Please note that not all
children will not be assigned more than one test.
If the children were at school for these tests, we
would have strict test conditions. We are seeking
your support in providing a similar environment at
home to allow your child to participate fully.
Below are the conditions we seek your support in
ensuring the following:
A quiet, clean space for the testing
period
Do not read the questions to your child
Allowing your child to complete all
questions independently
Students can use a pen or pencil during
the test to record their thinking/working
out.
Calculators may not be used in the Maths
tests
Please instruct your child to:
o Work as carefully as they can.
o Not to spend too long on one
question, even if it is hard.
o After they complete the last
question, review their work and
check that they have answered
all of the previous questions.
o Once they have completed their
test, click Finish on the last page.
To support the above, teachers will be actively
online with the students at the time of testing.
Teachers have access to Hapara which is an
online management tool which allows then to
see the screens of all children in their class.
Teachers will engage with children to redirect
them if they navigate away from the PAT testing
page.
The following is a table that outlines which the
tests scheduled for each level and their
days/times.

This week we have multiple students scoring
multiple medals in Mathletics. Congratulations to
Carlisle C (4JM) who scored his 2nd silver medal
in Mathletics this week.
Well done also to AJ L (4JM) and Lance A (4JM)
who have each picked up their 3rd silver medal
in Mathletics this year.
To achieve a silver medal, each student needed
to score five bronze medals (1,000 points in one
week) over five different weeks. It is terrific to see
so many students utilising Mathletics to improve
their Maths skills. Keep up the good work!
Well done to 4LD for the Bronze Medals that you
have received in the last fortnight with 31
students now heading to silver awards.
We would also like to congratulate the following
students from Grade 3 who have done
themselves proud also.
Ashton Bugeja in 3LF received a Silver certificate
for mathletics.
Congratulations to Christina L (3MD) for earning
a silver medal for Mathletics.
Congratulations to Stallon F. (3MD) for earning a
silver medal for Mathletics
Ethan Do 2AO was delighted to receive a bronze award for all his hard work on Mathletics
Accessing On-site Supervision
On-site Supervision in Schools Onsite supervision will only be provided for
extreme circumstances. The safest place for a
child to be supervised is in their home or with
extended family. With this in mind, only those
who fall under the following criteria will be
provided with on-site supervision:
Parent/s who are identified as a “permitted”
worker based on the criteria outlined by the
Chief Medical Officer and cannot work from
home and alternative arrangements cannot be
made for the supervision of their child/ren. Please note that it is incumbent upon all
businesses to provide the employee with a
“working permit” if they are required to work on-
site. A child is in “out of home care” and is at extreme
risk. A child falls under the disability category and
cannot be supervised at home and who also fits
into one of the above categories. Parents seeking on-site supervision must
