Informationthe Kathy Kirk Memorial scholarship is awarded to one deserving student from Edward Milne Community School whohas demonstrated that they wish to continue their studies of music.
The amount of the award may vary from year to year. It is the intent of the scholarship committee that thescholarship will be paid annually in the amount of $250, but may vary from year to year, depending on interestaccrual.
In the event that no one meets these qualifications this scholarship will not be given out, and funds held forsuccessive years.
Students must maintain a “B” average in grade 11 and 12 final course marks required for graduation, submit a resumeand provide two references, one from their community and one from their school.
Following proof of enrollment/registration and payment of fees the money will be paid directly to the recipient withthe understanding that the funds must be accessed within 24 months of the offer.

The scholarship is for a deserving student going on to further study at a college or university.
The main selection criteria are:- academic achievement- the study of music
The candidate must have participated in a band/string program at Journey Middle School or EMCS, or have proof ofmusic studies elsewhere.
The award may be offered to more than one candidate in a year.
Nicholas Watson was a bright, musical, vibrant, creative young man. He studied the euphonium, obtaining a Grade 5standing on his instrument. He participated in JMS and EMCS bands, going to the Nationals in 2013. He was theyoungest player for 3 years running in the annual Tuba Christmas in Victoria. His life was cut short by cancer at theage of 15 in 2016.

InformationLion Audrey Wilson, wife of past district governor John Wilson, passed away December 16, 2013. Thoughtful, funactive, caring, often “mother hen” to her fellow Sooke Harburside ions, Audrey was an outstanding community servantand a great friend to so many. Audrey served as a Lioness and a Lion in Sooke for nearly 30 years. She and Johnlived in Sooke their entire lives, where Audrey had served as a kindergarten teacher to many in the community. Thisbursary is awarded in her memory.

Applicants must demonstrate financial need. In your essay, provide as much information as possible about your levelof financial need.

InformationPat Moreau was the charter secretary for what we used to be called – The Sooke Lioness. She served in many othercapacities from Director to President and lived in Sooke most of her life. She and her husband, Leo raised a son andtwo daughters in Sooke. Volunteering was her passion and she did a lot to serve this community in her short life of47 years. The Orchid bursary was founded in 2016 in order for Alpha Chi Theta to recognize and reward afemale identifying student graduating from Victoria and the surrounding areas who demonstrates the four pillars ofAlpha Chi Theta. The student must be attending the University of Victoria beginning September 2019 in order toqualify for this bursary; should recipient decided not to attend to the University of Victoria, the bursary will berewarded to the runner up. After proof of registration a cheque valued at $350.00 will be sent to the University ofVictoria’s Registration and Tuition Office to pay partial tuition of recipient.

InformationEach year the Victoria Operatic Society awards a scholarship in the amount of $500.00(Canadian) to a student who has demonstrated talent in the performing arts. These areasinclude performance (singing, dancing, and acting), backstage production (lightingdesign, costume design, make-up, scenery construction, stage management) or any otherarea of performing arts production.
The scholarships will be awarded to an applicant of the minimum age of 17 years whoresides within the Capital Regional District.

InformationThere are 55 BC Excellence Scholarships available to recognize well-rounded BC graduates.
Winners will have demonstrated community service, both inside and outside schools, and shown aptitude andcommitment to their chosen career paths. They will receive a $5000 scholarship voucher to use for post-secondarytuition.
Students must be nominated by their school. If nominated, the student must submit an application to their schooldistrict, who will forward it to the Ministry of Education for adjudication by the selection committee.
Districts must submit application packages on behalf of their nominees to the Ministry, usually by February or March.
