You need someone who can hit the ground running. Someone that requires a minimal amount of orien-tation, training and supervision. A seasoned and experienced pro who can take a project from concept through to implementation. Someone who can see it from all sides and is able to anticipate any problems before they happen. That person is me.
There’s a lot I’ve done in my career. It feels like I’ve done it all. What that means for you is experience. Experience you can count on and trust.

COMPLEX CONTENTSIMPLY PRESENTEDHow do you make branding and marketing fun, exciting and appealing to small business? That was the question that drove each and every de-sign decision.
Tapping into a sense of familiarity and nos-talgia, a modern twist was added to keep the designs fresh and exciting. Every page was de-signed to not only help business owners learn how to brand and market themselves, but keep them excited and motivated at the same time and throughout the process.
FUNEASY TO USECreating something that any small business owner would understand and use was a priority. Looking at vintage school workbooks, the de-signs were built around teaching in ways that we’re not obviouos, dry or boring. Getting the users engaged and keeping them engaged was the goal.
BOLD CHOICESMADE TO ATTRACTThe cover of the companion workbook needed to reect, remind and build upon the design aestethic developed for the Find Your Betty book. There needed to be a bold choice of color to help the books stand out in a very crowded market.

PERSONAL STORIESREAL EXPERIENCESAfter years of hearing about paranormal acrtivity in and around famous Anaheim landmarks; Tom decided to compile those stories into a book.
The book consists of personal interviews with current owners, patrons and visitors to some of the most noto-rios haunted places. Playing the neutral observer, Tom looked to create a book that didn’t debunk the experi-ences, while also not validating the experiences.
MODERN STORIESCLASSIC PRESENTATIONThe goal was to not stray too far from the accept-ed norms of the genre, yet still be exciting and engaging. Tom was looking to bring new readers into the genre, readers who had more modern tastes and sensiblities.
A classic approach to type and typesetting was chosen to balance the modern cover and mar-keting.
TOM ZARADICHANAHEIM’S DEAD
BOOK DESIGN
Create a book design that t into the existing world of paranormal books, but yet, took the genre in a new and exciting direction.

Mark was looking for a postcard that would help him with promot-ing his annual open house and reading of Shakespeare.
Knowing that people might cringe at attending an open house where Shakespeare was being rea;, a modern yet dynamic design that attracted people to the event.

Angie was looking for a unique and different way to promote as well as market her campaign of returning old, dead products for new and better working products
Given the time of year and the idea behind the campaign, it seemed only natural to invoke the spirit of Halloween and a call out to the dead.

CHRYSALIS INSURANCE AGENCY
MARKETING COLLATERAL DESIGN
After merging with another agency, the CIA expanded their lines of business to a more higher end clientele. To engage and attract that demographic, they needed a set of collateral material that was more sophisticated and spoken direct to the demographic.
Quality and luxury was the driving force, yet the designs needed to stay within past branding. Finding the balance between the two was done with more elegant and modern type setting and type choices.
The bold colors of blue, red and white were combined with a more elegant image and type choices.

MODERNIZED LOGO DESIGN
After ten years in business, and with an expansion on the hori-zon, Faster Fitness needed a logo update that felt modern, was dynamic and easy to scale and apply.
Looking to not drift too far from the established branding, a more user friendly, and energetic design was called for. Mov-ing from the original yellow of the wordmark to a more dynamic orange helped with building energy and excitement.
Contrast between the parts of the wordmark was increased to help with legibility and readabilty at smaller sizes.

The stacked wordmark worked worked better on promotional items and other materials, such as club towels. It could easily be simplied down to either all black or all white and not lose any of it’s power.

AFB PHOTOGRAPHY
UPDATED AND MODERNIZEDLOGO DESIGN
AFB Photography was seeking to expand to the West Coast, they were looking for a series of business cards that worked as both information, aspirational and fullled the goal of being a viable marketing tool.

IMPROVED VISUAL LANGUAGE
AFB Photography is Alan F. Bradley a nationally recognized pho-tographer. Originally based in Atlanta, Ga the brand was seeking to expand to the west coast, we worked with them to update the look and the feel of the brand, but not the brand. The brand was unique and specic. It was speaking to the audience it was seeking to speak to. That’s ne in a room that’s not that loud, but Los Ange-les, like New York, is loud. You need a look and a feel that gets the brand heard in a noisey room.
ORIGINAL IDENTITY
AFB AFB
AFBAFBAFB
ICONIC ICONTaking into consideration all of the challenges that the new branding would face, we wanted to create something that worked as both an app icon as well as a company icon. AFB wanted a reference to photography within the icon.
We settled upon a classic shutter image with the afb initials in the center.
We have a long and healthy relationship with AFB, so we felt safe telling him: this isn’t working for anyone! What we were saying in our snarky way is, this was ne for where the company was, but not where it wanted to go. To be competetive in the LA market, this brand needed to be more more modern and sleek.

IMPROVED WORD MARKGiven the directive of it being professional and needing to have the ability to walk in both the traditional professional world of lawyers and be approachable for families. We knew that we had to stick with some form of Serif typeface for the wordmark.
While a serif was the order of the day, Times New Roman, Bodoni or other standards weren’t going to cut it. Eventually, after much experi-mentation, we determined ITC Fenice was what we needed to give the strength, respect, yet approachable feel we needed.
