Educator Effectiveness has heard your requests formore courses that carry literacy credit. Aftercareful review, we are happy to announce that twoadditional courses within the Home Base PDSystem catalog meet the statutory description(115c-296(b)(1)b) of a literacy credit.

Supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) in the Classroom: Action Research from the GTNand The Reading and Writing Connection: Action Research from the GTN Project are literacymodules produced by the Governor’s Teacher Network action research project. Action Research Offers Ideas onProfessional Development

Have you ever wondered how professionaldevelopment is done in districts other thanyours? Are you looking for ideas that have beentested in North Carolina classrooms? Look nofurther.

More than 200 action research projects createdby members of the Governor’s Teacher Network are available. Many projects examined different typesof professional development activities.

Brittany Guy, an action researcher in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth school district, investigated a yearlongpersonalized, blended professional development model for implementing technology in the classroom.To learn more about this model or find Ms. Guy’s action research results, please visit the OnlineProfessional Development Catalog and click on the Action Research tab.

Spring Principal READY: One More Chance

You still have time to register for the last Principal READY session for thespring scheduled for April 27th in the Southwest region.

Principals across the state have had the opportunity to learn about thechanges concerning Standard 6, licensure, and Analysis of Student Work. Inaddition, the Statewide System of Support has created custom sessionsbased on the feedback received from the districts they serve.

If you are interested in learning more about self-directed evaluations,strategies for principals serving low-performing schools, improving teacher retention, etc., please go tothe NCEES wiki to register today.

Find CTE Items inSchoolnet

Attention CTE teachers! Did you know thatyou can easily search CTE items inSchoolnet and add them to an existing or new test?

1. Hover over Assessment Admin2. Choose Find an Item, Passage, or Rubric3. Click Advanced Search

Search by PublisherType NCCTE_Unsecure in Publisher field (NCCTE_Unsecure items are available to all teachers)Click Search Items

4. Choose items by clicking the radio buttons beside each item.5. Click the blue Add Items to Test.6. From this page you can choose to add items to an already existing test or to Create new testwith these items.

Be sure to review the Helpful Hints that are located on your dashboard. These hints will be updated atleast once a month to keep users well informed with frequently asked questions posed to the HomeBase Support Center.

Maintenance Weekend Begins Friday

The next Home Base maintenance weekend is scheduled torun from Friday evening through early Monday. Maintenance will be performed only on thePowerSchool application. All other Home Base applications will be accessible through the IAM Service. PowerSchool will shut down Friday at approximately 5 p.m. Once maintenance is completed, amessage will be sent to notify users that the system is up and available for use. PowerSchool will bereturned to service no later than 6 a.m. Monday. If a delay in bringing up the system should occur,users will be notified.
