  • 1. In Poland everybody has the right to be educated. Education is compulsory until you are 18years old Education in public schools is free.

In Poland children start school when they are sixbut when they are five they go to pre-school. During their first six years of education theylearn at elementary school. There they muststudy: Polish, Maths, History, Biology, Computer Studies, a foreign language, P.E., Art, Music andTechnics. 6. Then, when they are thirteen they go to JuniorHigh School (Gimnazjum, also called Middle School). There they have more subjects and,generally, more things to study. At the end they take competence tests. After finishing JuniorHigh School pupils choose their secondaryschool. 8. In Poland students can choose among 3 types ofsecondary schools. The education in technical school lasts 4 years and at the end students taketheir Matura Exam (general knowledge) and theirProfessional Exams. In High School they study for 3 years, in the end they take their Matura Exam.Basic Vocational School is for 2-3 years. Theres noMatura Exam in the end, only a basic Professional Skills test. 11. 3-year-cycleto get Bachelors Degree5-year-cycle to get Masters DegreePost Diploma Studies 12. If a student passes his Matura Exam, he cancontinue his professional education at auniversity or a college.
