SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES AND DAILY LIVING SKILLSStudents can choose to participate in a variety of activities that encourage socialization and friendship development based on common interests, including:

• Swimming

• Dances

• Talent shows

• Games

• Health and fitness

• Cooking

• Science and history

In addition, students learn daily living skills essential for future independence such as self-care, health, nutrition, hygiene, personal safety, social skills and money management.

FOLLOWING THE RIGHT PLANStudent and program progress are continually assessed with a unique data collection system that measures performance through parameters of independence, accuracy, participation, and behaviors. The results of these assessments are what drive planning for highly individualized educational and treatment plans.

For residential students, Individualized Education Plans and Individual Service Plans are integrated and coordinated for increased progress and better outcomes.

Extended School YearMonarch School’s Extended School Year (ESY) program is available to current Monarch students and helps maintain the consistency of the school year throughout the summer. Students engage in academic lessons, pre-vocational training opportunities, speech/language therapy, art, music, swimming, and summer leisure skills. The small student to staff ratio is similar to that of the school year, as are the daily schedule, use of technology, and data collection system.
