The finalists for the 2018 Outstanding Primary Teacher Award are three educators who have shown an amazing dedication to the students in their care. Congratulations to Moreland Primary School teacher Natalie Schilov for making the finalists for this prestigious award. We wish Natalie all the best for the awards presentation that is happening tonight. What an amazing achievement for Natalie and the MPS community. Dear Parents and Carers, Thank you for the warm welcome to Moreland. It is my privilege to be appointed Acting Principal of Moreland Primary School for the remainder of 2018. Prior to my appointment here, I was Assistant Principal at Aitken Creek Primary School in Craigieburn. A little bit about me: I love learning and have a range of experience in education. After graduating from my initial university degree in Primary education I spent the first two years of my teaching career in far west NSW. I have a Masters of Education specialising in Knowledge Networks and Digital Innovation which I completed in 2014. That same year, I co-founded a not-for-profit organisation, codefuture.org, that connects volunteers from various technology industries with schools, teachers and students to develop their technology skills. I have also sat on the board of Digital Learning and Teaching Victoria as committee member and Vice President. This year I completed a program with the Department of Education and Monash University called ‘Unlocking Potential’, finishing with a Graduate Certificate in Leadership - Principal Preparation. This term, I am looking forward to working with staff on the school’s four year strategic plan and 2019 Annual Implementation Plan which will both be finalised by the end of year. There has already been a huge amount of work put into this and feedback and input has been gathered from parents to support planning and the future direction of the school. We will be working towards finalising the new school vision, purpose, values and graduate profile on our upcoming pupil free day on Monday 5th of November. Moreland Primary School is already a very special place to me, having attended the school for my own primary education. I have great memories from my time here and I am looking forward to making new ones with the staff, students and wider school community.
