A little about our history
1937 is created in Coimbra the Social Normal School – “The Health“;
1965 - change the denomination of the Social Normal School - "the Health" for Institute of Social Work of Coimbra.
1969 - alteration of the denomination to Social Work University College of Coimbra.
1998 - change of the denomination to Miguel
Torga University College.

Fieldwork Placements Policies
The training period is supervised by Social Workers:
a - the supervisor, lecture of ISMT; b – the tutor, the person who orientates in the
training place. The fieldwork training project will be developed
by the trainee and it is the result of the negotiation between supervisor, tutor and the trainee.
The fieldwork training project is evaluated by a jury that integrates the intervening ones of this process.

Field Work Practice I (6 semester);270 (p) + 140 (ex) = 410 hours
The Seminar;22.30 (to) +30 (s) = 52.30 hours
Total = 17,5 ECTS (462.30 hours);

Field Work Practice I (6 semester);The period of Fieldwork placement training is developed in the partner
institution space and it is an important pedagogical moment of training and it helps on the deepening of the theory-practical relation and it´s confrontation with social reality and professional practice. It is strongly linked with a research experience, it is related with the pré-professional activities of social workers and provide extension services to the community.
The seminar I (6 semester);The Supervision of Fieldwork placement makes the pedagogical and
scientific accompaniment of the trainee, proceeding to the theoretical-methodological analysis and ethics of the practical work, its critical reflection and respective elaboration of Project (these) of training period.

Field Work Practice II (7 semester);The fieldwork placement gives continuity to the fieldwork placement I,
in the same institutional space. The trainee search to implement his Training Project and must develop a critical reflection on Social Work. The final Work of is BA degree is evaluated by a jury that integrate the intervening ones of this process.
The seminar II (7 semester);The Seminar consists in a privileged space of accompaniment the
fieldwork placement process of training on the supervision level and also on the level of the elaboration of the student final these. This integrates a systematization of reflections and knowledge's acquired from the experience, as parameters theoretician-methodological of the educational project of ISMT defined for professional exercise.
