The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce puts on the banquet to honor individuals whose civic and profes- sional contributions are exceptional. This year we induct- ed six individuals with a total of 68 individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame thus far, and more will be inducted again in five years. The 2010 Hall of Fame banquet was presented by Edmond Life and Leisure. In This Issue Edmond Chamber hosts the 2010 Hall of Fame BanquetThe Edmond Hall of Fame banquet was held on April 9, 2010 at Oak Tree Country Club with over 260 in atten-dance. The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce puts on the banquet to honor individuals whose civic and profes-sional contributions are exceptional. This year we induct-ed six individuals with a total of 68 individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame thus far, and more will be inducted again in five years. The 2010 Hall of Fame banquet was presented by Edmond Life and Leisure.

Nominations for this prestigious award were provided to the chamber by many individuals. “We have so many in-dividuals in Edmond who have brought distinction to this community through the time and effort they have spent serving others. Making a decision was a very difficult task for our selection committee,” said Beth Kerr, Chairwoman of the com-mittee.

The 2010 Hall of Fame in-ductees, pictured to the right starting from the left are Major General Rita Aragon, Retired, Councilman Charles Lamb, Dr. Krista Jones, Commissioner Ray Vaughn, Doug Tewell, and Patricia Gray for Bruce Gray, posthumously.

Our Member Reward$ Program is picking up speed this year with a total of $1,240 (as of print date) spent on our members to say thank you for attending our events!

2010 Total Resource Campaign has come to an endTRC Victory Celebration held May 4th at Oak Tree Country Club

Our Total Resource Campaign is an all-volunteer effort to generate program and event sponsorships, sell advertise-ments in our publications and raise awareness of the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce.

The campaign kicked off on February 23, 2010 and came to an official end on May 14, 2010. We had great volunteers who really pulled through for the Chamber and helped us exceed our goal of $185,000.

Each volunteer is rewarded for their sales with cash and travel incentives! This years trip is to The Royal in Can-cun, Mexico!

Allison FineCoordinator - Communications

Britni HarrisCoordinator - Member Services

Shanell Ferrante now serves as the Director - Membership Development for the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce. Ferrante took over the position held by Ella Sprung as Sprung retired in mid February. Ferrante began her duties in February 2010 which include recruiting new members and coordinating a comprehensive retention program.

Allison Fine filled the position of Coordinator – Communications in March 2010. Fine has been a member of the chamber’s professional staff for almost two years. In her new position, she will be responsible for coordinating the chamber’s internal and external communications in addition to providing staff support to several of the chamber’s critical committees.

Kristen Figart is our newest addition. Figart joined the staff as the Information Spe-cialist. Figart’s function is to serve as the first point of contact with members and the community who either call the Chamber office or visit seeking information about Edmond. She will also be responsible for key elements of office operation and assist with various Chamber activities.

Britni Harris serves as the Coordinator- Member Services. Harris began her duties in March 2010. Harris’ function is to serve the interests of Chamber members and coordinate retention efforts of the organization. She will also provide service and support to the Chamber membership and assist management staff with membership functions.

Edmond Chamber honors 2009 award winners at Annual Banquet

The Annual Awards Banquet was held on January 22, 2010 at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Nigh University Center with 425 in attendance. The Banquet was presented by Edmond Electric. AT&T sponsored the VIP Reception. Cox Business was the wine sponsor and the entertainment was sponsored by Cimarron Software Services. The emcee for the evening was the 2009 Chairman of the Board, Jan Moran of AT&T.

The 2009 Citizens of the Year are Bob Turner and Derek Turner of Turner & Company, Inc. (upper right)

The Turners are active in organizations such as Project READ, Edmond Educational Endowment Fund and Junior Achievement. A recent endeavor of theirs is Turning Point Ministries, a non-profit shelter ministry which provides a bridge between Habitat for Humanity and the Edmond community. Most recently this ministry has been instrumental in developing Legacy Station. Derek serves

as a volunteer, mentor and coach to young men participating in the football program at Oklahoma Christian School.

Josh Moore (left) of Turner & Company, Inc. was the winner of the in-augural Tayo Fichtl Young Professional Award presented by OU Medical Center Edmond.

The Chairman’s Award was a special honor given by the 2009 Ed-mond Chamber Chairman of the Board, Jan Moran of AT&T. This

award was given to the person who contributed the most to the president’s term. Ray Hibbard, Edmond Life & Leisure, (right) was the recipient of the award for his support, knowledge and encouragement throughout the year.

EYP Community Connection

The Edmond Young Professionals (EYP) have started this year with a bang, from their Anniversary Party to Community Service.

EYP hosted a Community Connection on March 2, 2010 at JASCO Paul Thompson Event Center. Members of EYP had the opportunity to meet nonprofits in the area that were looking for volunteers or board members!

Leadership edmond Alumni Mayor lunch

The Leadership Edmond Alumni had a brown bag lunch with the Edmond Mayor Patrice Douglas on April 9, 2010 at the Chamber. The Alumni were able to ask the Mayor about City issues and discuss ideas for the community.
