NEW FAVOR IDEAS

Laduree held a press breakfast last week, where they released their new wedding gifts and cakes. I spoke with the PR agency post-event, and they can actually customize any of their above favor boxes with a monogram or design. They have not yet promoted this with the press, so they did not have specific imagery to share yet, but they are open to shooting… In order to do so they need a two month notice to design the box and create a prototype which the client approves before moving to production. The cost of customizing a box varies on the the details and construction of the box as well as the quantity ordered. Similarly, Macaron Café in NYC now offers printing directly on their macarons. Previewed in person. Could be pretty to expand story to various bakers’ approach to “The New Macaron Favor”… For Macaron Café, photograph w/ two tones and a three letter monogram. Promised quick turnover.

New concept from Laduree. Not yet promoted to any of the press…

NEW FAVOR IDEAS

Consider a trendy and fun metallic glitter tattoo station, made popular at NYFW show parties. Commission a graphic designer to make wedding-worthy designs (diamond ring, “love” script, monogram, and mix with jewelry templates. This can be a station at the party in lieu of a traditional take-home favor. “Modern Mendhi”.

Maggie Louise Confections is launching favor boxes for weddings and events. This four-chocolate box can be done with letters (for a monogram) mixed with objects (hearts, skulls, a rose, robots, pearls, crowns, stones, etc). I don’t have any imagery of the Maggie Louise favor boxes but have attached a picture of one of the charm boxes as well as a 4 chocolate box which is the size of a favor box. I’ve tasted these chocolates via an editor gift and they’re as delish as they are gorgeous.

We all love hangover kits at weddings, but creating them can be cumbersome. Luckily, NewlyWish and Gifts for the Good Life recently teamed up on new hangover kits that are completely customizable down to the last detail. Begin by selecting your wedding day style (Modern, Preppy, Classic or Rustic). Next, pick your vessel (muslin bag, kraft cylinder, hinged tin or medicine bottle). The kit stylishly packages tylenol, Alka Seltzer, sleep mask, earplugs, stain wipe, band-aids. Price: $12/each

New cake, not yet published… Original inspiration behind Deco at Dusk idea.

Gold and Pink Deco Cake by Sugar Flower Cake Shop.

Can request professional photos if this would be published.

Flavors: Velvet Cake. Ganache and Strawberry Fillings. Strawberry Icing.

From Amy DiGiulio, Owner / Designer at Sugar Flower Cake Shop:

“The design was based on the vintage cake topper that couple was ‘over the moon’ for! Hundreds of tiny stars were cut out and painted gold, with gold dragees and piped ganache dots added as accents. Sugar flowers include black magic garden roses contrasted with white anemones.”

FEATURE IDEA: ESCORT TABLES THAT MAKE AN ENTRANCE

Your escort card table is one of the first impressions your guests get of your wedding! Why not wow them? Five wedding industry pros share there tips on escort tables that make a grand entrance.

Select a stationery and small paper goods designer (Ceci New York), a planner (Loli Events), a floral designer (Matthew Robbins), and two event designers with distinct yet different aesthetics that are known for their wow-worthy escort table designs (potential contacts I have close relationships with include Lindsay Landman / David Beahm / Jes Gordon).

Produce an in-studio shoot of these inventive concepts, making sure each “look” suites a different bridal style. Tap each event pro on their tips for creating an exquisite, memorable and interactive escort card table.

WEDDING STYLE FEATURE: ESCORT CARD TABLES THAT MAKE AN

ENTRANCE

EXPERTS ON ESCORT CARD TABLES Ceci Johnson, Founder of Ceci New York: "I'm always a fan of making a unique statement. Your escort cards are a great place to surprise your guests. Forget the typical tented cards and go for an alluring interactive installation of hanging luminary escort card laser cut lanterns. Each one is personalized with the guests names and table number. Plus, as an added bonus, guests can bring them to their seats to light up the table or my preference is have them lined up around the perimeter of your party to add to the beautiful ambiance of your wedding decor." ESCORT CARD STYLE, CONTINUED EXPERTS ON ESCORT CARD TABLES Two Tips from Lauren Sozmen, Owner of Loli Events:

1.  “When it come to design, pull your inspiration from the space and environment where they will be presented... make it cohesive with all of your other fabulous wedding décor.”

2.  “Design is super important, but make sure your escort cards are practical as well… Make sure they are organized properly and that the space is well lit, (not everyone has 20/20 vision).”

More insight from Lauren: Oversized mirror images @ The Glasshouses- “This wedding was all about being glamorous and intimate.. a big beautiful framed mirror with stunning calligraphy was perfect.” Planted escort card table @ Private Home- “The client was all about nature and the garden was super important to them so we ‘planted’ the cards in the herb garden.” Organic escort card table @ Blue Hill Stone Barns- “Pulled from the farm and named each table after vegetables. Everything was hand painted.”

Inset photo: Envelopes revealed hand painted seed packets with guests names; doubles as favor.

ESCORT CARD STYLE, CONTINUED

This is an escort card table designed by Lindsay Landman Events for a wedding in Pennsylvania. I was on board as the bride’s stylist and also assisted Lindsay with set-up and tear-down, so I had the chance to see this design being created. It was beautiful in person, and can be scaled down to a more digestible design to be inspirational to other brides.

FEATURE IDEA: FASHION DESIGNER-INSPIRED CAKES TO

MATCH YOUR STYLE Got the dress, but not the cake? Pick your bridal style and check out these gorgeous runway-inspired wedding cakes to match your look.

Choose four wedding styles (i.e. Romantic, Classic, Vintage, Fashion-forward) and commission bridal runway inspired cakes that suit the look.

For example (and see photos on following page):

Romantic bride: Floral cake shown, matching Claire Pettibone dress (with image of shoot I styled).

Vintage glam bride: Lace cake shown, Jenny Packham dress.

Fashion forward bride: Feather cake, Naeem Khaan dress from last week’s runway.

We can tap a NYC fashion expert (Mark Ingram?) and a local creative cake designer (so many to choose from – Nine Cakes is a personal favorite) to commission cakes based off distinct editorially-exciting dresses that match these bridal styles.

FEATURE IDEA: TRENDY WAYS TO EXTEND THE EXCITEMENT

(because the wedding is only one day…) Navigate your wedding style beyond the big day. These hot New York City trend “parties” and events are not only an absolute blast to experience with your guy, your mom or your girls, they will leave you picture perfect for your big day. Consider these experiences with those closest to you to prep for the months surrounding the big day in an uber-fun way!

With the groom: They say scent is the closest sense tied to memory, so why not commemorate your big day with something completely unique. French perfumer Francis Kurkdjian is an expert in creating bespoke fragrances. He has worked with several brides t create their very own scent with their partner. After working one on one with Kurkdiian, you will have a custom perfume to savor and wear for years to come.

With your mom: Shopping for Beauty℠ - One of my favorite makeup gurus, Carlo Geraci has a unique service perfect for some pre-wedding bonding time. Brides and mom meet with Carlo in a store of your choice (Barneys, Bergdorf’s, Space NK etc…) and “Rehab their Makeup Bag™” for the shower, bachelorette party and honeymoon. They decide what items to keep, add, and discard for the events leading up to and following the wedding. Then you get an application using the new products Carlo suggests with a detailed face chart showing your updated look for the season… all in about 1 hour! This service is not meant to discard all your previously purchased cosmetics, just organize and update. Bring a small cosmetic bag of what you are currently wearing as well as any brushes you might have.

With your girls: Consider it a Tupperware party for the truly chic. Host a Color Salon with haute image consultant Rachael Lahren for you and your friends. Get "draped," and discover which 'season' and colors flatter your unique skin tone and help you to look your most radiant and powerful. The Color Salon is a fun way to kick off a bachelorette party or perk up a bridal shower. Rachael will help you understand the symbolism of the colors you wear most, know the effects they have on your 'audience' and learn how to quickly change your mood and audience's perception of you simply by choosing to wear your best color combinations.

FEATURE IDEA INSPIRATIONAL IMAGES

Art direction – Customize your wedding style… Since this feature would showcase takeaways from the pros, we can potentially shoot them in infographic style to show scent and emotion parallels (Kurkdjian), colors to suit your tone (Lahren), and an open makeup bag with items spilling out with comments from Carlo on what to keep or toss as long as it doesn’t fall over into a “beauty” feature.
