FROM THE DESK OF THE MANAGEMENT REPRESENTATIVE
We had our PYP art exhibition on 4th and 5th March. Ms Mithu Basu an inspiring artist as well as
art aficionado and a founder of NGO called DOLNA, was our guest of honour for inaugurating the
exhibition. She started Dolna in 2010, all in order to bring forth cutting edge talent and explore new
market segments for artists. She was keen to select and nurture artists of tomorrow, rooted in one's
own ethos, free of all limitations, who would be encouraged to find their personal idiom and write
the new movement in art. Her quest for excellence and faith in one's own potential, has seen her
foray into writing, art direction, advertising, publishing, public relations, communications and teaching, explored
from a creative perspective.
Ms Basu played ‘art charade’ with our children and convinced them that each child was an artist. The kids were
also excited when they were asked to draw on a canvas board. Ms Basu wholeheartedly appreciated the art works.
The art exhibits were superb, our children are really talented I must say. The parents who did not turn up really
missed it!
Our MYP art exhibition was on 7th and 8th March and more updates in our next week newsletter. Our MYP is now
gearing up for SLC, the invitation of which has already appeared last week. Children are eagerly waiting to show
their learning outcome to their parents.

ART EXHIBITION
The little artists of RBKIA displayed their skills and imagination on paper during the art
week. The art work of students from Nursery to grade 5 was displayed in the auditorium. It
was an excellent opportunity for the students to showcase their aesthetic skills.
MYP
O n 25th February 2014, our classes began with SLC. Our
Homeroom Teacher, Sheetal Ma’m recalled what SLC
actually means and what is expected from us. Then she
distributed the self-evaluation sheet in which we had to write about
ourselves , using appropriate adjectives. She also gave us many
more work sheets to get ready and present to our parents when we
started the conference. We started with our portfolios work. We
were also allowed to choose our favorite assessments. Our subject
teachers gave our assessments, rubrics and reflection sheet to be
placed in the plastic inserts. Now we are ready for SLC!

When we started our rehearsals with our home room teacher, we
actually presented our portfolios. She assumed the role of a parent and we did our portfolio
presentations with her! Thank you, Sheetal Ma'am! -POOJA JHAVERI
We completed so many documents; the strength and weaknesses
and the goals we wanted to achieve. All the students in our class
have made their portfolios complete with tasks and assessments
with corresponding rubrics and reflection sheets thank you, Swati
ma’am, for guiding us! We all look forward for the STUDENT LED
CONFERENCE! -VISHESH SHARMA
We had a lot of fun while collecting the documents for our
portfolios. Everyone has different sheets for each subject. We all
have done many creative things throughout the year; our art work,
our brochure for I.T and other subjects. As this is our first year in
MYP, we took more time for designing the front page of the portfolio and our teachers guided us a
lot. They have answered our each and every query and we thank
them for helping us; it would be very hard to do our presentation
without their guidance. With this experience, organizing our
portfolios will be an easy task for the coming years! We now
know the importance of the different documents in the portfolio;
our GOAL SHEET 678, TIMELINE for SLC preparation,
ACADEMIC and NON ACADEMIC sheets SUBJECT WISE
CHECKLIST ,PERSONAL INTRODUCTION 2014 and how and
what to be organized on the PRESENTATION DAY!

I was very excited on hearing that our SLC is happening! I enjoy
collating work for my portfolio!

Student Led Conference ‘IN THE MAKING’!!!
M y dear juniors, my Grade 6 students!
Each year our school conducts a ‘Student Led Conference’ in which we, the students,
are given the opportunity to share our year’s progress with our parents and under the
supervision of TEACHER FACILITATORS. With the SLC just around the corner on Saturday
8th of March 2014, this entire week has been very hectic for all in the MYP!
You are all ready to present your portfolios for the first time this year; your excitement is
evident in the corridors. You must be seeing your seniors rushing and rummaging to put
together an artistic masterpiece, bulging with assessments and tasks from all their subjects!
You, my dear juniors from Grade 6, use this opportunity to talk about your work (both
academic and non-academic) in a formal setting with your parents. I am sure you have also
written reflections for each piece of work in the portfolios! This will allow you to develop the
learner profile trait ‘Reflective’. This trait will indeed come in handy, later in life, when you set
out in your respective fields. It will help you further to become true IB leaners.
I feel rest assured that the SLC will be a learning experience for you dear juniors!
I wish to thank all our teachers for guiding us all through, as usual!

EXTENDED ESSAY VIVA
O n Saturday, 1st March, the students of IBDP –2 gave their viva for our respective
extended essays. Each student was given a specific time of arrival and they were
evaluated by three teachers – our respective extended essay teacher, the IBDP
coordinator and another teacher experienced in the subject; possibly for a new perspective on
the essay. The viva was conducted in order to assess the content and originality of the work
done in each of our essays. One day prior to our viva, all the students were asked to read their
essay to prepare for the viva next day.
My viva was conducted and assessed by my extended essay teacher – Mr. Fred Machage, the
IBDP coordinator – Ms. Kinnari Shah and the Principal – Mr. Edward Robinson. I was
questioned about the content of my extended essay and why I presented a particular view. I
was also given minor suggestions to help make my essay more presentable. I got an
opportunity to reflect on the essay that I wrote, I found areas of improvement and realized the
skills that I have achieved through this exercise. It was an enlightening experience and I
definitely learnt a few things that I would apply the next time I am given a task like the
